*Nosebleed Advice*

Stay calm, sit upright, and lean forward (not backward). Firmly pinch the soft, fleshy part of your nose just below the bridge for 10–15 minutes, breathing through your mouth. Spit out any blood to avoid swallowing it, and apply a cold compress to your nose or neck.

How to Stop the Bleeding (Step-by-Step)
1. Lean Forward: Sit up and tilt your head forward to prevent blood from dripping down your throat, which can cause choking or nausea.
2. Pinch Correctly: Use your thumb and index finger to pinch both nostrils shut against the bony structure. Do this for a full 10 to 15 minutes without releasing to check if it has stopped.
3. Breathe & Relax: Breathe through your mouth. Try to remain calm, as anxiety can elevate blood pressure and prolong bleeding.
4. Apply Cold: Place an ice pack on the bridge of your nose or the back of your neck to help constrict blood vessels.

What to Avoid
• Do not tilt your head back: This causes blood to run down the back of your throat.
• Do not stuff your nose: Avoid packing your nostrils with tissues, cotton, or other objects.
• Do not blow or pick your nose: Keep your nose clear of foreign objects.

After the Bleeding Stops
To prevent the bleed from starting again, keep your head elevated and avoid heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, picking your nose, or blowing your nose for at least 24 hours. If the nosebleed is heavy, lasts longer than 20–30 minutes, or you suspect it was caused by a serious injury, seek immediate medical advice.
