🧁 Baking fun with In Caring Hands Cornwall 🧁

🥰 For many older people, baking is a deeply comforting and familiar experience, one that brings back joyful memories of times gone by.

🍰 The sweet aroma of vanilla, chocolate or caramel, the sight of colourful icing and sprinkles, the sound of stirring spoons, whisks and mixers and of course the pleasure of tasting something delicious all combine to create a warm, uplifting experience.

🍪 Baking supports sensory stimulation, anticipation, communication and connection. It’s a chance to enjoy companionship, revisit familiar skills and be part of something fun! National Cupcake Day, on the 17th of August, is the perfect time to bring a little sweetness into the day.

🫶 Even if someone is not able to take part in all of the cake-making process, they can still enjoy the experience in their own meaningful way. Familiar smells, shared memories and of course tasting the finished article!

🫴 At In Caring Hands (ICH), we support older people in the comfort of their own homes across Cornwall. Being outdoors isn’t just enjoyable, it’s an essential part of wellbeing, offering fresh air, gentle movement and moments of calm that many of the people we support deeply benefit from.

🌍 National Great Outdoors Month is celebrated throughout June in the UK. It encourages everyone to spend more time outside, connect with nature, and enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of open spaces.

💛 For many older people, time outdoors can be especially meaningful. A short walk, time in the garden, feeling the breeze, listening to birdsong or simply sitting outside with a favourite drink can help reduce stress, lift mood and support overall wellbeing.

🌼 Our team helps the people we care for enjoy the outdoors in ways that feel safe, accessible and enjoyable. Whether that’s a gentle stroll, a moment in a sunny spot, or being supported to spend time in their own garden.

😟 Loneliness Awareness Week at ICH 😟

🤝 At In Caring Hands (ICH), we care for older people in the comfort of their own homes. We know that preventing loneliness doesn’t always require big gestures. A warm chat, a shared cup of tea, a familiar face at the door or a gentle walk outside can make a world of difference.

🌍 Loneliness Awareness Week takes place from the 15th to the 21st of June 2026 and is a global campaign hosted by the Marmalade Trust. It aims to encourage communities everywhere to recognise loneliness, understand it better, and take small steps to reduce it, helping people stay more connected in their everyday lives.

💛 For many older people, loneliness can be one of the biggest challenges they face. A quiet home, reduced mobility, bereavement or living far from family all contribute to feeling isolated and alone.

🌼 Our carers bring companionship, reassurance and emotional support to our service users across Cornwall, helping them feel valued, connected and part of their community.
