Bobby will be completing his Swim Safe in the Sea course next week! 🌊🏊

It’s such a fantastic course that helps children and young people become more confident in the sea while teaching them the skills they need to stay safe if they ever find themselves in difficulty.

Swimming has always been an absolute must in our home. It’s a lifelong skill that could one day save a life. While many children are confident in swimming pools, the sea is a completely different environment. The conditions, currents, waves, and tides make it far more challenging, which is why it’s so important that our children understand how to stay safe.

We’re so grateful Bobby has this opportunity, and we can’t wait to see everything he learns.

This summer’s essential, free and fun water safety activity for young people, held at beaches and lakes throughout the UK. Open to families, schools and youth groups.

Our Amazing Francesca ❤️

Francesca joined my setting back in November last year, and what a journey it has been!

From the very beginning, she has kept me on my toes. She is what I can only describe as a lovable little pocket rocket—full of energy, personality, and mischief! Life with Frankie has certainly never been quiet, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Francesca can be challenging, emotional, loving, funny, and incredibly rewarding, all rolled into one amazing little girl. Her cheeky personality has brought so much laughter to our days. Whether she was hiding things just to giggle while we searched for them or keeping us guessing about what she was going to do next, she always found a way to make us smile.

Watching Francesca settle into the setting over the past few months and become such an important part of our little family has been so special. Seeing her confidence grow, her personality shine brighter each day has been a privilege.

As you leave to start your next adventure at big school, I know you will continue to grow, learn, and achieve amazing things. Never lose that sparkle, your wonderful sense of humour, or your big, beautiful smile.

Good luck, Frankie Moo. Keep smiling, keep believing in yourself, and never stop being the funny, fearless, cheeky little girl that we all know and love.

Our Beautiful Arabella ❤️

Where do I even begin…

It only feels like yesterday that a tiny 6-month-old Arabella was coming through my door for the very first time. Today, at almost 4 years old, I have the privilege of watching her take the next exciting step as she leaves my setting to begin her journey at big school.

Over the last few years, I have had the honour of watching Arabella grow into the most beautiful little girl—inside and out. She has blossomed into someone who is kind, caring, funny, confident, and full of love. She hasn’t just been a child in my setting; she has become part of our family, and a huge part of my heart.

Seeing her reach every milestone and flourish in every area of her development has been so rewarding. She has embraced every challenge with a smile and has grown into such a wonderful little role model. Always looking after her little sister and the younger children, she earned the nickname of our “setting mummy” with her gentle, nurturing nature.

One of my proudest moments has been teaching Arabella to swim from such a young age and watching her grow into a confident little swimmer, now achieving Stage 2. To have been part of so many special moments in her life is something I will always treasure.

Arabella has become my little best friend, and it is impossible to put into words just how much I am going to miss her. The laughter, cuddles, chats, and the little moments we’ve shared have created memories that I will cherish forever.

Arabella, thank you for letting me be such a special part of your early years. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest privileges, and I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing little girl you have become.

As you put on your school uniform and take those exciting first steps into your next adventure, always remember just how loved, kind, clever, and capable you are. I know you are going to shine in everything you do.

This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply “see you later.” I can’t wait to hear all about your big school adventures when you come to collect your little sister.

Good luck, my gorgeous girl. Keep smiling, keep believing in yourself, and never stop being the wonderful Arabella we all know and love.

You will always have a special place in my heart. 💕🌈

Hello everyone,

With the upcoming warm weather forecast, Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership would like to share a reminder about the potential dangers around open water. We know that children, young people, and families may be spending more time outdoors, and it's important that we help raise awareness of the risks.

Key Water Safety Guidance (for CYP, families, and practitioners)

🔹 Cold Water Shock: Sudden immersion in open water—even in warm weather—can cause an involuntary gasp, rapid breathing, and heart strain. This is one of the biggest risks for strong and weak swimmers alike.

🔹 Hidden Hazards: Open water often contains unseen dangers such as strong currents, weeds, sudden drop-offs, and debris. These hazards can trap or disorient swimmers.

🔹 Supervision Near Water: Children and young people should be closely supervised around rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals, and even garden ponds. Drowning can be silent and fast.

🔹 Jumping Into Water: Jumping or diving into unknown water can lead to serious injury due to submerged objects or shallow areas.

🔹 Inflatables Warning: Inflatables can easily be swept away by wind or currents. They are safest in supervised pools, not open water.

🔹 What To Do in an Emergency: If someone is in trouble:

Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard (coastal) or Fire & Rescue (inland)
Use the “Reach or Throw, Don’t Go” principle
Keep eyes on the person and guide emergency services to the location

Our campaigns encourage people to respect the water, educating them how to enjoy the water safely and what to do in an emergency.

Swimming is a life long skill to learn and also the importance of swimming where it’s safe not at any point in open water ! It’s so sad young lives are being lost this way!
