Taylor Biddle Opticians was founded in 1994 by Tracey Taylor and Mike Biddle at the Compton premises. Two years later the Wombourne practice was opened. Mike left in 2010, and in 2014 Olha Lac joined Tracey as co-director, adding to Tracey’s wealth of experience in the optical world. Olha has worked for Taylor Biddle since 2005 and has gained extra qualifications in visual dyslexia which has helped many children achieve their potential. In April 2021 Hasan Akhtar joined Tracey and Olha as co-director after working at Taylor Biddle since 2018. Hasan specialises in Medical Retina and Glaucoma and encourages further education and training to ensure the practice is at the forefront of providing an excellent eyecare service. Taylor Biddle team members stay with us for many years, ensuring a strong, knowledgeable cohesive team. Customer service is at the heart of what we all do. This ethos, combined with heavily investing in the latest technology to improve eye care, plus offering an extensive range of frames and lenses, ensures that we will always offer the very best clinical service.

🌑☀️ SOLAR ECLIPSE EYE SAFETY – WEDNESDAY 12 AUGUST 👀

Something very exciting is happening in the skies this Wednesday! 🌙✨ The UK will experience a partial solar eclipse, with around 90% of the Sun covered in many parts of the country.

But please remember… an eclipse is NOT safe to look at with the naked eye! 👀⚠️
Here’s how to protect your eyes:

✅ DO use certified solar eclipse glasses/viewers specifically designed for viewing the Sun. Look for the ISO 12312-2 safety certification.
✅ DO check your eclipse glasses before use – don’t use them if they are scratched, damaged or creased.
✅ DO use a safe indirect viewing method, such as a pinhole projector, if you don’t have suitable eclipse glasses.

❌ DON’T look directly at the Sun, even when most of it is covered. The remaining sunlight can still cause serious and potentially permanent damage to your eyes.
❌ DON’T use ordinary sunglasses – even very dark ones are NOT suitable for viewing an eclipse.
❌ DON’T look at the Sun through binoculars, a telescope or camera unless the equipment has a specialist solar filter fitted correctly to the front. 🔭📸

⚠️ And never rely on your eyes to tell you if it feels safe – eye damage can occur without immediate pain or warning.
