Our animal adventures continued at St Stephen's Care Home this week following the recent visit from Animal Mania - Mobile Zoo 🐾💜

Inspired by all the wonderful animals we met, our wonderful residents spent time enjoying animal themed games, completing jigsaw puzzles and sharing plenty of conversation along the way. We also settled down for book club, where we read stories and poetry inspired by the animal world.

It was a lovely way to keep the theme going and brought back lots of happy memories and smiles throughout the day 😊

🐸🐍 We were delighted to welcome John from Animal Mania - Mobile Zoo and his mobile zoo to St Stephen's Care Home for a truly memorable afternoon.

Our wonderful residents and team had the chance to meet a wonderful variety of animals, including Jeremy the tree frog, Derick the blue tongued skink, and even Carol the corn snake for those feeling a little adventurous. John shared lots of fascinating facts about each animal, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed learning about 💜

The biggest stars of the afternoon were undoubtedly Stuart the chinchilla and Jim the fluffy dwarf lop rabbit, who quickly won over the hearts of our residents with their gentle and cuddly nature.

There was plenty of conversation, smiles, and excitement throughout the visit, making it a lovely experience for all our animal lovers. A big thank you to John for bringing his amazing animals to spend the afternoon with us 😊

For our wonderful Rosemary, it all started with colour.

During her apprenticeship in curtain-making in Broadway, she learned just how important colour, pattern and design could be. Years later, that love of creativity is still with her 🎨

In this short video, Rosemary shares why taking part in creative activities means so much to her.

Rosemary says "It takes my mind away from everything" and sometimes, that's exactly what creativity can do. It gives us the chance to focus on the moment, express ourselves and enjoy doing something we love.

Thank you, Rosemary, for sharing your story with us 💜

Our wonderful residents at St Stephen's Care Home always love spending afternoons with the wonderful children from Debutots Worcestershire . We had so much fun playing, dancing, and blowing bubbles together!

Storytime was a hit too, with tales of caterpillars transforming into beautiful butterflies and the cheerful lives of tadpoles and frogs 🐸🦋.

We can’t wait to welcome the kids back for their next visit 💜

Spring is definitely in the air here at St Stephen's Care Home 🌱💜

Our wonderful residents have been busy preparing flowers and vegetables ready for the garden, with plenty of care going into planting calendula seedlings and tomatoes for the months ahead. There’s something so lovely about getting hands in the soil again and watching everything slowly come to life.

We’re all looking forward to seeing how our garden grows over the summer, and enjoying the little moments that come with spending time outdoors together ☀️

Recently at St Stephen's Care Home , our wonderful residents have been getting creative with some very special artwork inspired by forget me nots, the recognised symbol for Dementia UK , representing remembrance, awareness, and support 💜

From painting and crafting to knitting and crocheting in our knit and natter group, it’s been lovely seeing everyone adding their own personal touch to the display. Our home is now filled with beautiful handmade forget me nots, each one created with care and meaning.

We’re also hoping to share our creations with the wider community by donating them to the The Hive for their dementia themed display later this summer 😊

A huge thank you as well to our lovely Ann, one of our supportive relatives, who has lovingly made over fifty forget me not brooches and keyrings for everyone. Such a thoughtful gesture that has meant so much to us all 💜

It’s all about Eurovision!

Our singing club has been practising their favourite Eurovision and international themed songs ready for a live performance from the very talented Zoe Devenish Music . 🎤🎶

Our residents’ favourite hits included Waterloo and Tulips from Amsterdam. We had a great afternoon singing along, playing percussion instruments and showing off our dance moves.
