💜 **Children’s Hospice Week 2026 | 15–21 June** 💜

Every moment together matters. During Children’s Hospice Week, we come together to raise awareness of the incredible work children's hospices do in providing specialist care, comfort, and support to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families.

This week is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication of hospice teams, support families facing challenging journeys, and ensure that no child or family feels alone. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, share information, or simply spread awareness, your support can help make a lasting difference.

Together, we can create a lifetime of memories, compassion, and care for every short life. 💙

We were deeply touched to receive this heartfelt thank you card from Tracey and her family following the loss of her husband, Terry.

At A V Band Funeral Directors, we understand how difficult and emotional the days and weeks following a bereavement can be. Knowing that our care, compassion, empathy and professionalism helped to provide comfort and support during such a challenging time means so much to every member of our team.

It is a privilege to be able to support families when they need us most, and messages like this remind us why we do what we do. Funeral traditions and superstitions have been passed down through generations, offering comfort, protection, and meaning during times of loss.

Here, we explore fascinating funeral beliefs from Ghana, India, and modern-day traditions around the world — revealing how different cultures honour the departed, protect the living, and preserve spiritual connections through rituals and customs.

From ancestral beliefs in Ghana to spiritual funeral practices in India, and the symbolic signs many still believe in today, these traditions remind us that remembrance, respect, and love are universal.

At A V Band Funeral Directors, we honour every life with compassion, dignity, and understanding of the traditions that matter most to families.

Mourning attire has long reflected love, remembrance, dignity, and respect throughout history. 🖤

From the elegant black gowns of the Victorian era to the refined simplicity of modern memorial fashion, women’s mourning attire has evolved across generations while continuing to honour the memory of loved ones.

Our latest poster explores how fashion became a symbol of grief, tradition, and personal expression during times of loss — reminding us that while styles may change, remembrance never fades.

At A V Band Funeral Directors, we believe every life deserves to be remembered with compassion, care, and dignity.

Cemeteries are more than places of remembrance — they are spaces where history, nature, heritage, and community come together.

National Cemeteries Week (UK) 2026, taking place from 6th–14th June, encourages communities across the country to explore, appreciate, and protect these important green spaces.

From centuries-old memorials and fascinating local stories to wildlife conservation and restoration projects, burial grounds hold an incredible connection to both our past and our future.

Throughout the week, communities, volunteers, historians, and cemetery friends groups will come together to host tours, restoration projects, biodiversity activities, and heritage events that celebrate the beauty and significance of these sacred places.

Whether you’re passionate about local history, genealogy, conservation, or simply remembering those who came before us, National Cemeteries Week is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.

Some of the funeral traditions we still follow today began hundreds — even thousands — of years ago.

From funeral processions and wearing black, to flowers placed in tribute, these customs were created to honour loved ones, show respect, and bring comfort to grieving families.

While times may change, the meaning behind these traditions remains the same: remembering a life, supporting one another, and saying goodbye with dignity.

At A V Band Funeral Directors, Droitwich, we are proud to continue caring for families with compassion, respect, and understanding — every step of the way.
