🌿 It’s warm, it’s sunny, it’s peaceful… 🌿

I’m sitting here thinking how lovely it feels outside right now 💭

It’s calm.
It’s quiet.

And honestly… I really don’t want to go inside and do marking 😅

Part of me is thinking “be responsible and get it done…”

and the other part is thinking “surely the marking can wait just a little bit longer?” ✨

Sometimes it’s the little everyday moments like this that remind us how important it is to slow down and enjoy where we are 🤍

So now I’m curious…

💭 “This isn’t just a course about training to be a counsellor… it’s about investing in you as a person.”

I had another lovely conversation today with Karen as she reaches the end of her Level 4 counselling journey 🌿

When I asked how she had found the training, she described it as a huge investment in herself — not just professionally, but personally too 💜

And that really captures what counselling training often becomes for so many students.
Yes, you learn theory, skills and professional practice…
but you also learn about yourself.

You grow in self-awareness.
You reflect deeply.
You discover parts of yourself you may never have explored before ✨

When I asked Karen what advice she’d give to somebody thinking about starting the journey, she said:

🌱 “Go for it. Think hard… but go for it.”

Because counselling training isn’t only about becoming a counsellor — it’s also about becoming more connected to yourself 🤍

Today we said goodbye to our fantastic Level 6 Supervision group.

It has been an incredible journey, and we have genuinely loved every minute of working alongside them.

Watching their confidence, reflection, skill and supervisory identity develop has been such a privilege.

🌿 Small changes can make a big difference 🌿

A little confession… I really like clothes 👀😄

But recently, after hearing how much success my friend Kath had been having with Vinted, I decided to finally have a proper go myself.

After photographing and listing a few things today, I honestly couldn’t believe how quickly things started selling!

It got me thinking about how much we consume and how important it is to think differently about the resources we use 💭

I made a promise to myself that unless it’s absolutely necessary, I won’t be buying anything brand new for a while — and instead I’ll focus more on recycling, reusing, and buying second-hand where I can 🌱

At Cara Counselling Training, we often talk about awareness, reflection, and making intentional choices — and I suppose this is just another example of that in everyday life 🤍

Plus… it feels surprisingly good clearing space and knowing things are being reused rather than wasted ✨

🌿 Thinking about starting counselling training?
Maybe you’ve been thinking about becoming a helper, starting a course, or even training to become a counsellor… but something keeps holding you back 💭

The uncertainty.

The “what if I’m not ready?” thoughts.

I recently came across a poem by Sophie Diener called The First Step, and part of it really stood out to me:

✨ “You have to begin.

Do it badly at first with sweaty palms and shaking limbs and gaps in what you know…” ✨

Because the truth is — nobody begins fully confident.

Nobody starts knowing everything.

And nobody arrives already fully formed 🌱

Counselling training is a journey of learning, growth, self-awareness and courage.

You are allowed to feel nervous.
You are allowed to feel unsure.
You are allowed to begin before you feel fully ready 💜

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simply take the first step.

Because you might love it.
Because it might change your life.
Because the world may need exactly what you have to offer 🤍

And one day, you may look back and realise how important that first step really was ✨

💭 “It really breaks you open…”

I had a lovely conversation with Rich today as he comes to the end of his Level 4 counselling journey 🌿

What really stood out was hearing him describe it as a 12 year journey — and how much he feels he’s changed as a person through the process 💜

When I asked what advice he’d give to somebody thinking about starting counselling training, he said:

✨ “There’s so much opportunity to get to know yourself.”

And that’s the thing about counselling training…
yes, you learn theory, skills and professional practice — but you also learn so much about yourself along the way 🤍

It can challenge you.
Stretch you.
Open things up emotionally.

But for many students, it becomes one of the most profound and transformational journeys they’ve ever taken 🌱
