The Chocolate Works Care Village, York is a unique care community set in a lovingly restored, iconic building (the former headquarters of Terry's of York chocolate factory). offering a place you can call home while receiving the care that you need. Within the complex we’ve carefully chosen a vast array of amenities. The result is everything you could need to relax, socialise, stay active and even

spoil yourself – all on your doorstep. An internal market square features a shop, a café, a restaurant and a bistro. And depending what mood you, your family and your visitors are in, there’s a hairdressing salon, a gym, a cinema room, a nail bar, a hydrotherapy suite and a sweet shop to enjoy. We even have our own on-site pub, The Duke of York.

The post you’ve all been waiting for…☀️🎊

What an incredible day we had at our Summer Fair on Friday 24th July! ☀️💙

The event was held to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, a charity that is incredibly close to all of our hearts.

There was something for everyone to enjoy! Including a raffle, tombola, name the teddy, bakes by Rachel from The sweet spot, treatments by Emily from Simply Bee Wellness York , bouncy castle, games, sweet stall, delicious food and refreshments, and fantastic live entertainment from the wonderful Claire-Louise, who kept everyone smiling throughout the day. 🎶🍰🍬🧸

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, volunteered, and helped make the day such a success. Your kindness and generosity made a real difference.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that, with Care UK's matched funding, we raised an amazing £956.70 for the Alzheimer's Society! 💙

Thank you all for your incredible support. Together, we're helping to make a difference for those affected by dementia.

Beach Day⛱️☀️

We’ve had such an exciting week here at The Chocolate Works! Since we’re a little way from the coast, we thought… why not bring the beach to us? 🏖️☀️

We spent the day soaking up the sunshine, enjoying delicious fish & chips, building sandcastles, playing traditional seaside games, and topping it all off with a classic 99 from the ice cream van!🍦🐟

One of the best parts of the day was reminiscing about favourite trips to the seaside. Sharing these memories sparked so many smiles, laughter, and wonderful conversations.

Reminiscence plays such an important role..helping people reconnect with meaningful moments from their lives, strengthen their sense of identity, and encourage communication. A simple memory can bring comfort, boost confidence, and create genuine moments of connection with those around them.

It was a truly special day, filled with sunshine, smiles, and memories that we'll treasure💙☀️

Chocolate Works Summer Fair☀️🎟️

A reminder that our Summer Fair is taking place next Friday 24th July from 2-4pm, outside the front of the building!

It is sure to be an amazing afternoon, with entertainment from Claire-Louise, Tombola, Raffle, other stalls, local businesses, BBQ food, Bouncy Castle and more! 🏰

Please do come along, bring your children & grandchildren to join the fun! 🌟

American Week🇺🇸

Last week we explored all things American to celebrate Independence Day!

We did a quiz, a star-spangled singalong, baked American chocolate chip cookies, arts & crafts, discussion group, and more! Then we topped it all off with a delicious American-style Milkshake trolley for everyone to enjoy🥤😋

Getting out and about☀️🥰

Here at The Chocolate Works, we love getting out and about, especially when it’s sunny!

Recently we’ve been:
On a trip to the local cafe☕️
Seeing the sights of York on trips with Bike Belles🚴‍♀️
Sunbathing on the Roof Terrace😎
Walking around the gorgeous Peace Gardens🌸
On a trip to St Chad’s Church⛪️

And don’t worry, we always make sure to wear a hat and of course Sun Cream 😋

Making Pizzas🍕😋

This weekend we fancied doing something a bit different! We made pizzas to have for tea🌟

We used some bases, spread our sauces on there then added whatever toppings we fancied! Cheese, ham, mushrooms, peppers, onions, the lot!

They were delicious and can’t wait to make them again😋🍕

Singalong Spectacular🎤🌟

On Thursday we were joined once again by the amazing Jess from Jolly Old Time Entertainment, she treated us to her Singalong Spectacular!

We had a great afternoon singing along to her wide repertoire of crowd pleasers and classic 50s, 60s and 70s tunes!

We can’t wait to see Jess again in September for her Movie Madness show🤩🎬
