Regular cervical screening can save lives.

Screening can find:
βœ”οΈ HPV (human papillomavirus) before it causes abnormal cells in the cervix
βœ”οΈ Abnormal cell changes before symptoms develop
βœ”οΈ Cell changes when they are easier to treat

HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer. Finding HPV and abnormal cells early is one of the best ways to prevent cervical cancer from developing.

That is why attending regular cervical screening appointments is so important. πŸ’œ

A cervical screening test (previously known as a smear test) looks to see if you might be at greater risk of developing cervical cancer in the future. This is why it can be so effective in reducing the risk of cancer.

If you have symptoms you are concerned about, please make an appointment with a healthcare professional rather than booking a cervical screening test.

A doctor can assess your symptoms and arrange any investigations needed. Cervical screening is for people who have no symptoms and is designed to detect early cell changes before symptoms develop.

If in doubt, always speak with your GP.
