Mental Health Reform is in Geneva for the pre-session of Ireland’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR). This is our opportunity to brief UN member states before Ireland's formal UPR, helping ensure that mental health issues and recommendations are on their radar. We’re calling for accessible, high-quality, community-based supports that uphold human rights, dignity, autonomy and choice, informed by the experiences of people with lived experience.

Our 2027 Pre Budget Submission sets out a clear roadmap for change. We are calling for an additional €320 million investment in mental health and a commitment to allocate at least 7% of the health budget to mental health in Budget 2027, putting Ireland on the path towards the Sláintecare target of 10% by 2030.

Ireland’s first National Mental Health Experience survey is now underway, asking people about their time in inpatient care.

The research aims to improve mental health services across Ireland by gathering the views and insights of people with lived experience.

If you are discharged from a mental health hospital or unit between April and July 2026, you may be eligible to take part. Eligible participants will receive an invitation letter in the post a few months after discharge.

We welcome new data published today by Minister for Mental Health Mary Butler, highlighting the impact of the National Clinical Programme for Early Intervention in Psychosis in 2025.

The findings show the real benefits that investment in Early Intervention in Psychosis can deliver for young people and their families. Timely access to specialist care is vital to supporting recovery and helping people stay connected to their families, education, employment and local communities.
