We are delighted to share that the County Galway Connemara Dementia Cafés Initiative has received an Age Friendly Ireland Achievement Award. 🏆
This recognition celebrates the collective efforts of communities and organisations across County Galway in creating welcoming and inclusive spaces for people living with dementia, their families, friends and carers.
The initiative has grown through the commitment and collaboration of Galway County Council, Galway Age Friendly Programme, Forum Connemara, Galway Rural Development, the HSE, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Creative Ireland, Cairdeas, local community groups, volunteers and facilitators.
A sincere thank you to everyone involved in supporting the Dementia Cafés across the county. Your great work continues to make a positive difference in promoting connection, inclusion, wellbeing and brain health within our communities.


Tá áthas orainn a roinnt go bhfuil Gradam Éachta Aoisbhá Éireann buaite ag Tionscnamh Caiféanna Néaltraithe Chonamara Chontae na Gaillimhe. 🏆

Aithníonn an gradam seo na hiarrachtaí comhpháirteacha atá déanta ag pobail agus eagraíochtaí ar fud Chontae na Gaillimhe chun spásanna fáilteacha agus cuimsitheacha a chruthú do dhaoine atá ag maireachtáil le néaltrú, chomh maith lena dteaghlaigh, a gcairde agus a gcúramóirí.

Tá an tionscnamh tar éis fás agus forbairt a dhéanamh trí thiomantas agus comhoibriú Chomhairle Chontae na Gaillimhe, Chlár Aoisbhá na Gaillimhe, Fhóram Chonamara, Fhorbairt Tuaithe na Gaillimhe, FSS, Chumann Alzheimer na hÉireann, Éire Ildánach, Cairdeas, grúpaí pobail áitiúla, oibrithe deonacha agus éascaitheoirí.

Gabhaimid buíochas ó chroí le gach duine a bhfuil baint acu le tacú leis na Caiféanna Néaltraithe ar fud an chontae. Leanann bhur gcuid oibre den scoth ag déanamh difríochta dearfaí trí cheangail shóisialta, cuimsiú, folláine agus sláinte inchinne a chur chun cinn inár bpobail.

A Celebration of the Golden Years!

Forum Connemara, through the SICAP programme, is hosting A Celebration of the Golden Years on 29th September 2026, bringing together a wide range of organisations and services that support older people across Connemara.

Come along to meet local service providers, learn about available supports, and connect with others in the community. Information will be available on pension supports, home energy upgrades, mental health services, home security, Meals on Wheels, volunteer supports and more.
