The story behind Grave Surrounds 🕊️

Founder Michael Keogh, a funeral director, first came up with the idea for a temporary grave surround after experiencing a moment that stayed with him.

On the day of a funeral he was working at, everything had gone as planned. The grave had been prepared and covered, the service completed, and the family had left for a meal with friends. Later that evening, Michael returned to the cemetery and arrived at the same time as the family making their “first visit” back to the grave.

By then, the covers had been removed, leaving the freshly dug ground exposed and uneven. He noticed how uncomfortable and emotional the moment was for the family, seeing the grave in that raw state for the first time.

That experience, and many like it from his work as a funeral director, led to the creation of Grave Surrounds, a simple way to bring dignity, comfort, and care to that often overlooked part of the funeral journey.

As Michael Keogh, Founder, explains, a good Irish funeral helps guide families on their path of bereavement. This product is designed to support that journey a little further, when it is needed most.
