Does winding your baby take way too long?
Are they uncomfortable after a feed?
This simple technique will help speed up the process.

Starting on baby's right make the letter 'I' from the bottom of the abdomen up to the ribcage.
Next make the letter 'L' across the top of the abdomen (under the ribcage) and down baby's left side of the abdomen.
Followed by an upside down 'U'. Starting back on baby's right and moving all along the large intestine.

I advise repeating this 3 times and increasing your pressure a little each time.

To finish gently wrap your hands around baby's thighs and bring their knees up to their ribcage and hold for 5-10seconds.

Your baby wriggling and squirming at this point is natural.
That's the trapped air moving through the abdomen.
Don't be surprised if there are lots of noisy relief🤣
Repeat if necessary.

Hit save and follow for more tips.

Think of the vagus nerve like the wise old grandmother of the house.
As the master cranial nerve it is, it touches Every organ in your body.

For newborns it is often underdeveloped and needs to be stimulated to bring it online. This can link into reasons why newborns have issues with wind, colic and reflux.
Often their little digestive system just isn't fired up fully and ready to do its job properly yet.

But by applying light circular pressure to the pad of the baby finger you can help to stimulate the vagus nerve and get it to come online.
I would advise doing this before each feed.

For children and adults alike this can be a great point to stimulate when experiencing wind, constipation, or recovering from a tummy bug.
You can apply deep firm pressure clockwise to the pad of each baby finger, several times a day, when needed.

Hit save so you can come back to this when needed and follow along for more tips to help the whole family.

Nothing worse than trying to sleep with a blocked nose!

If you apply pressure all along the points shown it will help you to breathe clearer.
Where the blockage is internally in your head is called the eustachian tube, this tube runs from the nose along the roof of the mouth, down to the throat.

In your hands it makes a line from one side of the palm across to the other just where the fingers join the palm.

The points of tension known as 'crystals' will feel tender when you press them, that's the point that needs to be cleared. So with firm pressure spend an extra minute massaging this area.

If you are applying this to a loved one, they may be able tell you if an area feels tender or you may also feel the tension as a slightly tighter area.

This is safe to do on babies and children just use a lighter pressure especially for babies.

I also advise doing this about 30 minutes before nap/sleep time as this allows time for the nasal congestion to clear before sleep.

Check out today's stories for my favourite kid friendly room plug in's to help them sleep longer when congested.

The first of the series 'Reflexology for all' Teaching you how to self treat common ailments with reflexology.

This reel shows you where sinus congestion shows up on the very tips of the fingers.

If you are congested you will feel, what are referred to as 'crystals' under the skin. They will feel like tiny grains of sand and that is the congestion in the sinuses.

Apply firm pressure and repeat as needed throughout the day.

If applying this to a child use lighter pressure and trust their feed back, if the tell you they want more great. But they may also feel doing it one time is enough, they know their own body so trust that.

If you have an older child who suffers with their sinuses you can easily get them to do this on themselves.

My dms are always open for questions.
