☀️ Earlier this year, Altruist recorded a series of debates with leading UK dermatologists, journalists and skin cancer experts to set the record straight on sun protection. What followed was an honest conversation about sunscreen and the truths your skin deserves. 🤍

In this first video, Beauty Banks co-Founder, broadcaster and journalist Sali Hughes MBE speaks to campaigner and skin cancer survivor about the many comments we all receive from people who still believe sunscreen is the cause of skin cancer - and not the proven, researched and safest way to protect skin daily from damage.

Never let children burn 🚨 and ALWAYS protect children in the sun ☀️ If you burnt as a child, what advice would you give to a young parent?

Why protecting children is extra important ⬇️

⚠️ Just one burn as a child greatly increases the risk of skin cancer in adulthood

🔴 Just one blistering sunburn in childhood or adolescence can double the risk of melanoma later in life

⚠️ Sun damage builds up over a lifetime 👉 so even minor sunburns in childhood (the skin going pink) can greatly increase the risk of skin cancer later in life.

🩺 Sunburns in childhood are a major, and well researched, high risk factor for melanoma and other types of skin cancer in adulthood

🟤 A child’s skin may have less natural melanin

Protective clothing, hats and sunglasses are the first line of defence against the sun - please cover up kids

Sunscreen should be applied AND reapplied frequently - use a considerable amount. Apply liberally! 😎
