On the occasion of World Pharmacist Day, themed "Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures," the Pharmacy Department of Peshawar General Hospital proudly reflects on its Pharmacovigilance and Medication Safety Workshop, held on 12th September, in collaboration with the Pakistan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FIP) and Ferozsons Laboratories Limited as the affiliated partner.

The event began with a welcome note by Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, followed by insightful sessions on Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) tracking, detection, reporting, and analysis by Ms. Aasma Hamid, and Adverse Drug Event (ADE) and medication error reporting by Dr. Roheena Zafar. Both sessions were complemented by real-world case studies and interactive discussions aimed at strengthening patient safety practices.

The workshop also featured a special segment recognizing the valuable contributions of individuals dedicated to advancing pharmacovigilance within the institution.

He is recognized for his expertise in renal transplantation, advanced laparoscopic surgery, PCNL, radical nephrectomy, radical cystectomy, urethroplasty, and pyeloplasty, with experience of approximately 120 renal transplant surgeries and over 1,000 PCNL procedures.

Saeed ur Rehman presented with persistent muscular, cervical, and shoulder discomfort and was subsequently referred to the Physiotherapy Department for specialized clinical management. Through a structured course of targeted therapeutic sessions and continuous professional supervision, he achieved significant symptomatic relief and marked improvement in mobility, enabling him to resume his daily routine with restored comfort and ease.

Wahid Ullah, having sustained a spinal cord injury, was enrolled in an intensive, physician-guided rehabilitation program. Under the sustained care of our physiotherapy team, he demonstrated notable progress in strength, coordination, and functional independence over the course of his treatment.

The Quality Assurance & Patient Safety Department at Peshawar General Hospital successfully conducted its Patient Safety & Quality Training in observance of World Patient Safety Day 2026 on 17th September, under the theme "Safe Care for Noncommunicable Diseases – Safe Care for Life!" The event supported the hospital's ongoing efforts toward PINAHS accreditation standards and a stronger culture of patient safety.

The session covered key topics including Patient Safety Introduction, IPSG, Safe Communication, Medication Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Incident Reporting & Learning, and the Future of Patient Safety, with participants receiving certificates of participation.
