Flat feet occur when the arches in one or both feet are absent or collapse over time. While some individuals are born with this condition, others may develop it later in life due to improper footwear, certain medical conditions, or injuries to the Achilles tendon, foot or ankle.

When left unmanaged, flat feet can place added strain on the muscles, ligaments, and joints. This can potentially affect mobility and increase the risk of plantar fasciitis and bunions.

Treatment for flat feet first involves non-surgical means like orthotics, physiotherapy and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In cases where symptoms do not improve despite treatment, surgical intervention may be recommended.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is a foot and ankle surgeon experienced in treating a wide range of foot conditions including flat feet. Reach out for prompt diagnosis and treatment if flat feet is suspected.

A normal kneecap sits nicely in its groove, allowing one to walk, run and jump freely.

However, when the kneecap slips out of its groove, a dislocation may have occurred.

Kneecap dislocation can occur as a result of direct trauma, falls or sports-related injuries, causing stiffness, swelling, inability to straighten knee and a visible deformity.

To effectively treat kneecap dislocation, especially for cases with knee instability, surgery may be required. This involves realigning displaced bone fragments and using special screws and metal plates to hold them together for healing.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an orthopaedic surgeon experienced in treating kneecap dislocations. If you are at risk of kneecap dislocation, get assessed by Dr Seng today.

The ankle cartilage plays a crucial role in absorbing shock, reducing friction and facilitating smooth joint movement.

When the cartilage is damaged due to an injury or gradual wear and tear, an ankle cartilage injury may occur.

With an ankle cartilage injury, one may experience persistent joint pain, stiffness, weakness, swelling and limited mobility.

As the cartilage cannot completely regenerate once damaged, it is important to seek treatment early.

Aimed at relieving pain, restoring joint mobility and preventing the onset of ankle arthritis, treatment of ankle cartilage injury can involve conservative methods or surgery.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is a foot and ankle surgeon with vast experience in managing ankle cartilage injuries and in minimally invasive ankle cartilage repair.

Consult with Dr Seng for prompt assessment and treatment if an ankle cartilage injury is suspected.

As one of the most common shoulder conditions, a rotator cuff tear refers to the partial or complete tearing of tendons from the humerus, resulting in pain and limited shoulder function.

Tearing of the rotator cuff can stem from a combination of age-related degeneration and overuse, or injury.

Depending on the extent of the tear, treatment for rotator cuff tears can include conservative methods like medications or physiotherapy to reduce pain and improve shoulder function. This is usually reserved for mild to moderate tears.

In cases of severe tears, rotator cuff repair may be required, where the tendon is reattached to the bone using sutures or anchors to restore shoulder function and flexibility.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an orthopaedic surgeon proficient in minimally invasive repair of the rotator cuff. Should you experience persistent pain and limited mobility in the shoulder, seek orthopaedic care from Dr Seng today.

A strong fibrous band of tissue that connects the calf muscle to the heel bone, the Achilles tendon is responsible for everyday motions such as jumping, running and walking.

However, this makes it prone to injury from repetitive stress and pressure on the tendon, resulting in pain, stiffness and swelling at the back of the heel.

Most Achilles tendon injuries can be treated with conservative means, including anti-inflammatory medications and physiotherapy.

For more severe Achilles tendon injuries, particularly complete ruptures, Achilles tendon repair can be performed to repair the ruptured tendon.

Arthritis in the ankle refers to the degeneration or inflammation of cartilage in the ankle joint, typically caused by past injury or underlying medical conditions.

Pain with motion, swelling and tenderness can result from ankle arthritis, which can limit the range of motion in the ankle and make walking difficult.

Treatment of ankle arthritis can involve physiotherapy, assistive devices and medications, with the ultimate goal of relieving pain and limiting disability.

However, for severe cases where the pain becomes unbearable and interferes with daily life, surgery may be recommended to restore ankle stability and motion.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is a foot and ankle surgeon experienced in treating ankle arthritis. Schedule a consultation with Dr Seng if you experience symptoms characteristic of ankle arthritis.

As one of the main ligaments in the knee, the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is often prone to damage, especially when it is stretched beyond its normal range.

Damage to the ACL tends to occur in sports activities that involve actions like abrupt stopping or pivoting. Direct impact on the knee can also cause the ACL to tear.

With a torn ACL, one may experience sharp pain, swelling, stiffness and a popping sound during movement.

To treat ACL tears effectively, particularly for cases of a partially or completely torn ACL, surgical reconstruction is recommended. Using a minimally invasive arthroscopic approach, the torn ACL is replaced with a tendon graft to provide stability to the knee joint.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an orthopaedic surgeon proficient in ACL reconstruction surgery. Schedule an appointment with Dr Seng today for prompt and effective treatment.

Characterised by pain, stiffness and a restricted range of motion in the shoulder, frozen shoulder occurs when the shoulder capsule thickens and tightens.

While the exact cause of frozen shoulder is still unknown, the lack of usage and inflammation of tissues surrounding the shoulder joint are believed to contribute to the condition.

With the goal of relieving pain, stiffness and improving shoulder motion, various non-surgical treatments can be administered, including medications, physiotherapy and corticosteroid injections.

However, should symptoms persist or when conservative treatments are not effective, surgical intervention via a minimally invasive arthroscopic approach can help stretch and release the stiffened joint capsule.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon skilled in the treatment of frozen shoulder. Book a consultation with Dr Seng to have your shoulder condition assessed and managed.

Jumper’s knee, or knee tendon inflammation, arises when the patellar tendon is strained.

The straining of the tendon usually stems from overuse of knee joint (e.g. in activities that involve running and frequent jumping on hard surfaces) or abnormal alignment of lower limbs (e.g. flat feet).

To effectively treat jumper’s knee, surgical repair of patellar tendon can be performed. This involves reattaching the torn tendon to the kneecap to prevent the patellar tendon from scarring and tightening into a shortened position.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an orthopaedic surgeon with vast experience in the surgical repair of jumper’s knee. Seek medical advice from Dr Seng if symptoms of jumper’s knee are suspected.

Knee cartilage tears occur when the cartilage in the knee is damaged, usually caused by gradual wear and tear or a forceful twisting of the knee during contact sports.

With a torn knee cartilage, audible clicking or popping sounds may be heard with movement, and are accompanied by stiffness, pain, swelling and tenderness in the knee.

To treat knee cartilage tears, surgical repair of the knee cartilage via a minimally invasive approach is recommended. This procedure involves suturing the torn pieces together or replacing the torn cartilage with a healthy transplant to restore cartilage function and improve joint mobility.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 π—–π—΅π˜‚π˜€π—΅π—²π—»π—΄ is an orthopaedic surgeon well-versed in minimally invasive knee cartilage repair. If you are at risk of developing knee cartilage tears, seek medical advice from Dr Seng.
