A meniscus tear refers to a tear in the knee cartilage which functions as the shock absorber and weight distributor of the knee.

The meniscus can tear from forceful twisting of the knee during contact sports, or as a result of degeneration over time.

With a torn meniscus, it not only causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the knee, but also a locking sensation and feeling that the knee is giving out from under you.

Knee cartilage repair via a minimally invasive approach may be used to treat a torn meniscus, especially for severe cases or if conservative means fail to suffice.

This procedure involves suturing the torn pieces together and removing the badly damaged area to preserve healthy meniscus tissue and restore optimal knee function.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an orthopaedic surgeon experienced in treating knee meniscus tears. If you suspect you have torn your meniscus, seek medical advice from Dr Seng today.

Plantar fasciitis, a leading cause of heel pain, is the inflammation of the plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes.

The condition usually results from repeated or excessive strain on the heel, characterised by a sharp, stabbing heel pain that is most noticeable with the first few steps in the morning or after prolonged sitting.

Seeking early treatment is crucial to preventing plantar fasciitis from causing further complications like plantar tears, ruptures and heel spurs.

In most cases, treatment typically involves physiotherapy, pain relief, and anti-inflammatory medications. In severe cases or when symptoms persist despite treatment, steroid injections, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, or minimally invasive surgery may be required.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is a foot and ankle surgeon with extensive experience in treating plantar fasciitis of varying severity. Consult with Dr Seng today for prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears are among the most common knee injuries, often occurring during sports that involve frequent pivoting, sudden stops, or quick changes in direction. They can also result from a direct blow to the knee.

A popping sound may be heard or felt at the time of injury, and is often accompanied by knee pain, swelling and a feeling of instability, where the knee feels as though it may give way.

A partially or completely torn ACL is likely to require reconstruction surgery, in which the torn ligament is replaced with a tendon graft to restore knee stability, relieve symptoms and facilitate a full return to active sports.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with in-depth expertise in the minimally invasive surgical reconstruction of ACL tears. If you notice signs of a torn ACL, book a consultation with Dr Seng today for assessment and treatment.

The shoulder labrum is a ring of cartilage that surrounds the shoulder socket, helping to keep the shoulder joint in place.

Repetitive shoulder motion, especially during sports or traumatic injuries such as a shoulder dislocation can tear the labrum, leading to shoulder pain, instability and a clicking sensation.

To treat a torn labrum, labral repair may be recommended, where the torn labrum is reattached to the shoulder socket using sutures or anchors to restore stability and improve shoulder function.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an orthopaedic surgeon experienced in treating shoulder labral tears. Schedule an appointment with Dr Seng if a torn shoulder labrum is suspected.

Tennis elbow is an overuse injury characterised by pain on the outside of the elbow.

Despite its name, tennis elbow doesn’t just affect tennis players. In fact, individuals who engage in repetitive arm and wrist motions, such as painting, carpentry, or plumbing, are also at risk of this injury.

To manage tennis elbow, treatment can involve medications to relieve inflammation, physiotherapy to improve strength and flexibility, or steroid or platelet-rich plasma injections to promote tendon regeneration.

However, in serious cases or when conservative treatments fail to suffice, surgical repair of the damaged tendon may be required.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an orthopaedic surgeon experienced in treating various sports injuries, including tennis elbow. Book an appointment with Dr Seng today and recover your active lifestyle again!

When there is a change in the natural alignment and structure of the foot, a bunion may occur where a bony bump forms at the base of the big toe.

A bunion often causes redness, swelling and pain around the big toe joint, which can make walking painful. In more serious cases, it can even lead to crowding in the forefoot, where the big toe overlaps the second toe.

Bunions can develop in varying locations, and are usually caused by factors such as genetic predisposition, underlying medical conditions, previous foot injuries, and inappropriate footwear.

Regardless of type, bunions can worsen over time if left untreated, making timely treatment crucial.

To effectively correct bunions, minimally invasive surgery may be considered. This involves realigning the bone, ligaments, and tendons to return the affected toe to its original position.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an experienced foot and ankle surgeon with vast experience in minimally invasive bunion correction. Should you notice a painful bony bump, along with swelling and stiffness, consult with Dr Seng for personalised treatment advice.

While it's commonly believed that knee pain only occurs among the elderly, it can actually affect anyone at any age.

Knee pain may seem minor at first, but if it occurs alongside swelling, trouble bearing weight and a crackling sound, this could signal serious knee injuries like dislocations, fractures, cartilage and ligament tears.

As causes of knee pain can vary from person to person and would require different forms of treatment, proper diagnosis by an orthopaedic specialist is crucial.

With proper diagnosis, a targeted treatment plan can be tailored to ensure quality outcomes. Treatment options for knee injuries may include assistive devices, physiotherapy, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications and surgery.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an orthopaedic surgeon well-versed in treating a variety of knee conditions. Schedule a consultation with Dr Seng for timely diagnosis and treatment if you are experiencing symptoms and suspect a knee injury.

Total ankle replacement, also known as ankle arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to relieve persistent ankle pain and improve function, usually for advanced ankle arthritis.

During the procedure, damaged bone and cartilage as well as loose tissue are first removed via an incision. An artificial implant made of metal and plastic is then used to replace the damaged ankle joint, thereby alleviating symptoms and restoring smooth joint motion.

Complete recovery typically occurs 6-12 months after the procedure, with rehabilitation and physiotherapy playing a key role in restoring ankle strength and flexibility.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is a foot and ankle surgeon proficient in total ankle replacement. Book an appointment with Dr Seng to have your condition assessed and managed.

29/06/2026

Knee fractures occur when there is a break in the femur, kneecap, or tibia, and are often marked by common symptoms such as swelling, bruising, tenderness, and a noticeable deformity.

A fracture in the knee usually results from a direct impact to the knee joint or from medical conditions such as osteoporosis.

To treat knee fractures, particularly for mild to moderate cases, conservative options like assistive devices, physiotherapy, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications can be employed.

However, in cases of displaced fractures or where the knee joint is unstable, surgery may be required. The bone fragments are repositioned into their normal alignment and held together with special screws and metal plates to facilitate healing.

𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is an orthopaedic surgeon well-versed in treating various types of knee fractures. Schedule an appointment with Dr Seng for prompt treatment if you experience swelling, bruising or a visible deformity at the knee joint upon impact.
