Arlene Evans once worked as an operating department nurse at VHC Health.

Today, she and Barry Dewberry have made a $17.5 million gift to VHC Health, the largest in our history.

The VHC Health Outpatient Pavilion will carry their name, and a new Arlene Evans and Barry Dewberry Cancer Center will open on its sixth floor in summer 2028.

Their support began in 2023 with a $3 million gift that established the Arlene Evans and Barry Dewberry Simulation Center. This is the next chapter of a relationship that began at the bedside.

For the first time, diagnostics, infusion, radiation, surgery, and support services will sit under one roof, serving more than 2,000 patients each year in one location, with one coordinated team.

As cancer care doesn't end at treatment, survivorship, nutrition, psychosocial support, and integrative therapy will support families from diagnosis through long-term recovery.

The center will also include VHC Health’s first Clinical Research and Trial Office, giving patients greater access to research and clinical trials as part of their care.
