As Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer season, our burn team is reminding families to stay safe while enjoying outdoor celebrations. Dr. Dave MacIntyre, Burn Surgeon at the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital, shared important tips to help prevent common holiday burn injuries related to grills, campfires, fireworks, and hot surfaces.

Memorial Day Burn Safety Tips:
1️⃣ Never leave grills or open flames unattended
2️⃣ Keep children away from grills, campfires, and fireworks
3️⃣ Wear shoes outdoors to avoid burns from hot pavement and surfaces

“Many burn injuries we see this time of year are preventable with a few simple precautions,” says Dr. Dave MacIntyre, Burn Surgeon at the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital.
