📢 Let’s clear this up once and for all — professional titles matter.
The Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE) recognizes the professional titles Occupational Therapist (OT) and Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) without the “/L.”
Here’s what you need to know:
✔️ Use OT, not OT/L
✔️ Use OTA, not OTA/L
✔️ Individuals with doctoral-level degrees (OTD, PhD, etc.), the Texas Legislature, prohibits an OT or OTA from using the abbreviation “Dr.” and/or the word “Doctor” as a title.
