POV: Your child is finally expressing that "Big Emotion" they've been holding onto all week. 🏃💨

At Playful Minds Therapy, we don't run from the intensity—we lean into it! Play therapy gives children a safe space to "punch out" their frustrations (figuratively and sometimes literally with our foam gear!) while learning self-regulation.

It might look like a wild match, but there’s a method to the madness! We have firm safety rules in place so every child can explore their feelings without anyone actually getting a "TKO."

May the Force (of Play) Be With You! ⚔️✨

Happy Star Wars Day! While we love a good galaxy far, far away, we know that for many children, the "battles" they face with big emotions like anxiety, frustration, or fear are happening right here and now.

In play therapy, toys are the words and play is the language. Whether a child is building a fortress, navigating a sandbox, or choosing their "tools" for a session, they are learning to master their own "inner force."

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting how play helps kids:
✅ Develop emotional regulation (finding their calm)
✅ Process difficult life transitions
✅ Build confidence to face their "Vaders"
✅ Communicate when words aren't enough

At Playful Minds Therapy, we’re here to help the young Jedis of Baltimore navigate their world with resilience and hope. 💚

Does your child need help finding their inner calm? Let's chat.

This May, we’re talking about the power of play. 💚

Mental Health Awareness Month is the perfect time to remember that children experience "big feelings" just like adults do—they just express them differently.

At Playful Minds Therapy, we use Play Therapy to help children in Baltimore navigate anxiety, life transitions, and social challenges in a space that feels safe and natural to them. When we meet a child at their level (on the rug, with the art supplies, or in the sand tray), true healing begins.

How can you support your child’s mental health this week?

Try "Special Time": 10 minutes of uninterrupted, child-led play. No phones, no teaching—just following their lead.

Representation is a form of medicine. 💊✨

Traditional therapy wasn't always built with our stories in mind. At Playful Minds Therapy, we’re changing the narrative. Through African-Centered Play Therapy™ (ACPT), we provide a space where Black and Brown children don’t have to leave their identity at the door to find healing.

When a child sees their culture reflected in their toys, their therapist, and their environment, they don’t just "cope"—they thrive. We’re reclaiming play as a tool for liberation and communal wellness.

What is one way you cultivate 'Black Joy' in your home? Let’s share some inspiration below! 👇🏾
