This is one of the hardest lessons after betrayal.
You can’t force your spouse to end contact.
You can’t monitor them every minute.
You can’t make them rebuild trust.
And you can’t make them understand your pain.
But you can decide what is acceptable to you.
A boundary isn’t:
“You are not allowed to talk to her.”
A boundary sounds more like:
“I cannot continue rebuilding this marriage while there is unnecessary contact with the person you had an affair with.”
One tries to control another person’s behavior.
The other communicates what you need in order to participate in the relationship.
That distinction can change everything.
What would you need in order to feel safe enough to continue healing?
