👋🏼 A LITTLE REINTRODUCTION, BECAUSE IT’S BEEN A MINUTE!

Hi, I’m Liz! 😊 Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, owner of Healthier You Counseling, therapist, mom, coffee lover, and someone who firmly believes that life is hard enough without having to pretend you have it all together. If you’re new around here, welcome! And if you’ve been here for a while, consider this your little refresher on who I am and what I’m all about.

A few things to know about me:

✨ I’m a real person, first. I’m not the kind of therapist who expects you to sit on a couch, spill your deepest secrets, and magically have your life figured out in 60 minutes. Therapy is a process, and we’re in it together.

✨ I believe you can be struggling and still have a sense of humor. We can talk about the hard stuff, work through the uncomfortable stuff, and still laugh along the way. Healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

✨ I want you to feel comfortable being YOU. You don’t need to have the right words, know where to start, or have everything neatly organized in your head before coming to therapy. You can show up overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, exhausted, or completely unsure of what you need. We’ll figure it out together.

✨ I’m passionate about helping people feel understood. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship struggles, or just feeling like you’ve lost yourself somewhere along the way, you deserve a space where you can be honest without fear of judgment.

✨ Outside of therapy, I’m just Liz. A mom, a coffee enthusiast, a lover of laughter, and someone who knows that real life can be messy. I don’t expect perfection from my clients, and I certainly don’t expect it from myself!

My goal at Healthier You Counseling is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to work through the hard things, and empowered to make changes that actually feel right for YOU. And if you’ve been thinking about starting therapy but keep telling yourself you’ll do it when life settles down… consider this your gentle reminder that you don’t have to wait until things get worse to ask for support. 🤍

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to start.

If you’re new here and wondering whether therapy might be a good fit, reach out! I’d love to help you take that first step.

Here’s to being a little more human, a little less hard on ourselves, and creating a healthier you - one step at a time. 🤍

Always rooting for you,
Liz 🤘🏼

It’s World Mental Health Day and let’s talk about some things…You don’t have to have it all together to be doing okay. Some days, taking care of your mental health looks like going to therapy, setting boundaries, or finally having that hard conversation. Other days, it looks like getting out of bed, taking a shower, answering one text, or giving yourself permission to do absolutely nothing for a little while.

It all counts. ❤️

Mental health isn’t just about what we do when things get really bad. It’s also about how we take care of ourselves in the everyday moments, how we talk to ourselves when life gets messy, and whether we allow ourselves to ask for help when we need it. And let’s remember, you can be grateful for your life and still struggle. You can love your family and still need a break. You can be the person everyone leans on and still need someone to lean on yourself. You don’t have to wait until you’re falling apart to deserve support. So today, check on your people. Be a little kinder than you think you need to be. Give yourself some grace. And if you’ve been telling yourself that you should be able to handle everything on your own… maybe it’s time to stop believing that one. 😉

Mental health matters every single day, not just today. And you matter, too. 🤍

‼️THERAPY SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE.‼️

I’m excited to share that I am supervising a graduate counseling intern at Healthier You Counseling who will be offering FREE therapy sessions for residents of North Dakota!

As a therapist, one of the things I wish more people knew is that you don’t have to wait until you’re at your breaking point to reach out for support. You don’t have to have everything figured out, know exactly what to say, or be going through a crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes you just need a safe place to talk, sort through your thoughts, work through life’s challenges, or have someone help you make sense of it all. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who may be interested in therapy but have financial barriers that have made getting started difficult.

As the supervising therapist, I’ll be supporting and guiding our intern throughout this experience to help ensure clients receive thoughtful, ethical, and supportive care while our intern continues to grow as a counselor.

✨ Free therapy. A safe space. No judgment. Just support.

If you or someone you know has been thinking about starting therapy, this may be a great opportunity! Please reach out for more information about availability and getting started.

And as always, please remember: you deserve support, too. 💚

Tonight, I’m struggling to find the right words.

As a therapist and as someone who cares deeply about this community, my heart is incredibly heavy. The loss of Ben and Taylor is heartbreaking. Two young lives, with so much ahead of them, gone far too soon. My thoughts are with their families, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone who is hurting right now. There is no “right” way to grieve a loss like this. Some people will cry. Some will feel numb. Some will be angry. Some may not even know what they’re feeling yet. All of it is okay. Please check on your people. Check on the teenager who seems fine. Check on the friend who is quiet. Check on the parent who is trying to hold it together for everyone else. Sometimes a simple “I’m here” means more than we realize. And if you’re struggling with this, you don’t have to carry it alone. Talk about it. Cry about it. Sit with someone. Reach out. Give yourself permission to not be okay. A gentle reminder… please take care of yourself and the people around you in the days ahead. Step away from social media if the details become overwhelming, give yourself permission to rest, and reach out for support when you need it. There is strength in asking for help, and no one should feel like they have to navigate grief alone. 🤍

Tonight, we hold space for Ben and Taylor, two young lives, two families forever changed, and a community grieving together.

Please be gentle with yourselves and with each other. 🤍

Just a little reminder from your friendly neighborhood therapist… 🤍

Life gets hard. Sometimes really hard. You don’t always have to have the right words, a plan, or even know what the heck you’re doing next.

If you’re in one of those seasons right now, please remember.. you’re not alone.

Give yourself some grace. Take a breath. Let yourself laugh when you can, cry when you need to, and lean on the people who love you.

Here’s to a little more love, a little more laughter, and a whole lot more peace. 🫶🏼

You’re doing better than you think you are. Keep going. 🤍

Well… apparently I have the BEST people in my corner. 🥹🤍

I’m still a little shocked to say that I was voted Bismarck’s Favorite Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor! 🥹🎉

Like… WHAT?!

Seriously though, thank you. To everyone who voted, shared the post, sent a message, cheered me on, or has supported me and Healthier You Counseling in any way… I appreciate you more than you know.

I get to do a job that I genuinely love. I get to sit with people during some of their hardest moments, celebrate their wins, hear the things they don’t always feel comfortable saying out loud, and occasionally remind people that no, they are not actually “crazy.” 😂

Being trusted with people’s stories is something I never take lightly.

This award may have my name on it, but it feels like a little win for all of us who believe that mental health matters and that asking for help shouldn’t have to be so damn hard.

So… thank you, Bismarck. 🤍

I’m feeling incredibly grateful, humbled, and maybe just a tiny bit famous. 😂

Seriously. THANK YOU. 🫶🏼

Rooting for you ALWAYS,
Liz 🌿🤍

Today was a reminder of why we do what we do. 🤍

Participating in the Out of the Darkness Su***de Walk was such an honor. As therapists, we have the privilege of walking alongside people through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and being part of an event that brings so many people together to remember, support, and spread hope means so much to us.

We walked for the people we’ve lost.
We walked for the people who are struggling.
We walked for the families and friends left behind.
And we walked for the reminder that no one should ever feel like they have to carry it all alone.

Su***de prevention is about starting conversations, showing up, listening without judgment, and reminding people that their life matters… even when they can’t see it themselves.

We are incredibly grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day and to stand alongside so many people who believe in the same message:

You are not alone. There is hope. Keep talking. Keep showing up. Keep choosing life. 🤍

Always rooting for you. 🌿

You'll see a new face around HYC! Matt is a graduate student with Piedmont University following Liz during his practicum hours. He is set to graduate July of 2027 and is excited to get started in observing.

“I believe there is no one-size-fits-all in counseling. To achieve our goals in counseling, we need to look within to identify the barriers that keep us from achieving them. By prioritizing a person-centered approach and establishing a safe space, I look forward to meeting you where you are and helping you map your journey in counseling.”

Join us is welcoming Matt! 😁
