A Luau took place in the dining room at Bloomfield Care Center on Thursday, August 27th. Along with festive decorations and party favors, there were tasty hors d'oeuvres and colorful mocktails to enjoy while watching the movie, "Blue Hawaii" starring Elvis Presley. As you can see by the photos, a good time was had by all!

Bloomfield Care Center residents love their pie! In honor of the Iowa State Fair, we had a pie judging on Thursday afternoon. 4 pies were made by staff members and the winners were Blueberry, Dutch Apple and Oatmeal. Additional pies were ordered from The Red Shed to give more variety. Ice cream was also served while we watched the 1945 classic, "State Fair".

On Saturday, July 11th, the 2nd Annual Car & Antique Iron Show took place in our newly surfaced parking lot at Bloomfield Care Center. Residents thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend time outdoors gazing at the antiques and street rods. Many memories were conjured and friendships made with the generous folks who donated their time on a warm, breezy afternoon. A hearty congratulations to R. Grim, winner of the "People's Choice" award with his '52 Pontiac Chieftain Deluxe. A very heartfelt "Thank You" to all who participated. This meant a lot to the residents! 👍

On Friday, the Diamonds & Dust Equestrian Drill Team made their annual visit to Bloomfield Care Center. These young adults put on a dazzling performance at the Ft. Bloomfield Rodeo each year and they always take time out of their busy schedule to interact with residents at the Care Center. This time, they assisted with a lively game of BINGO! On Wednesday, June 24th, Bloomfield Care Center residents were thoroughly entertained by our good friend and colorful entertainer, Crystal! Crystal wowed her audience with lively show tunes as well as familiar patriotic tunes. Crystal enjoys posing with her cousin each time she visits - and this time, our volunteer and Activities Coordinator joined-in on the action. 🎵📷🎶🧨😁

On Tuesday, residents at Bloomfield Care Center enjoyed a K-9 agility demonstration by members of the Power Paws 4H Club. These youngsters will be showing their skills at the Davis County Fair next month. The best part, though, was all the attention and love given to the residents! To round-out the week, the same club sponsored our monthly "Birthday BINGO Bash" with cakes, ice cream, and festive prizes! Club members served the refreshments, then played BINGO with the residents.

Residents at Bloomfield Care Center enjoy stretching their creativity by creating art. Did you know that creating art can stimulate both hemispheres of the brain and reduces stress and anxiety? Visiting Artist Jackie Perry, along with her capable assistant, Ginny Perry, assisted residents in a fun printmaking exercise. The results were very rewarding! Thanks, gals, for spending this quality time with us. 🎨🧑‍🎨🧠😁

June activities at Bloomfield Care Center are starting off with some favorite ways to pamper our treasured residents! On Tuesday, residents were given a spa-like treatment with aromatherapy, soft ambient music and hand/arm/shoulder massages. Afterwards, we built our own parfaits with honey yogurt, fresh fruit and crumbled wafers. Exciting upcoming events include: visiting artist, dog show, birthday party, sing-along, visiting choirs, and more! In addition, Dads will be delighted as our 2nd annual Classic Car Show will take place on Sunday, the 21st. 👍
