I get asked sometimes if I only work with gay and bi men. I don’t. My specialty is body image and eating concerns, and I’m glad to work with anyone, including straight folks and women, as long as we build a strong rapport and I’m genuinely the right fit for what you’re working toward. What matters most to me is whether I can actually help you reach your goals, not whether you fit a particular category. If that sounds like a good match, I’d love to hear from you.

Disordered eating in gay men doesn't always look like what you'd expect. It can look like discipline. Like control. Like "healthy." A rigid meal plan that can't bend for dinner with friends, workouts that feel more like punishment than enjoyment, constantly sizing up your body against every guy in the room. None of that gets flagged the way restriction or bingeing might, which is exactly why it tends to go unnoticed, even by the person living it. If any of this sounds familiar, it's worth exploring with someone who actually understands this world. Link in bio to book a free consult.

I'm too excited to wait: I'm launching a third men's group, and this time it's exclusive to gay men.

This will be a weekly, ongoing process group for motivated gay men (25-45) in MA, NY, ME, and FL, who are seeking to connect deeply with peers, build community, and work through the challenges they're facing.

I want this to be a space where you can dive deep into the issues gay men struggle with most, including:

* Body image and disordered eating
* Vulnerable communication
* Dating and intimacy
* Identity and masculinity
* Minority and intraminority stress
* Shame, anxiety, and substance issues

This is a long-term commitment, built on the idea of creating a supportive community of men who will be there for you through different seasons of life.

If you're ready to take emotional risks and be seen, this is the space for you.

Launching after Labor Day. Email me or inquire through the link my bio to sign up.

New post is up. Muscle dysmorphia is one of the most underrecognized conditions in gay men, largely because it looks like dedication from the outside. I wrote about what it actually looks like, why gay men are especially vulnerable, and why the eating disorder field has been slow to make room for this population.

Muscle dysmorphia is an underrecognized eating disorder that disproportionately affects gay men. A Boston and New York psychologist explains what it looks like, why gay men are especially vulnerable, and how therapy can help.

New on the blog: Body Image and Eating Disorders in Gay Men: Why the Struggle Is Different. If you've ever wondered whether what you're dealing with is serious enough, or felt like the resources out there just weren't written for you, this one's for you. I draw from my own research and clinical work to talk about why gay men are more vulnerable to these struggles and what getting support actually looks like.

Gay men face unique pressures around body image and eating. Boston psychologist Dr. Matt Richardson explores why the struggle is different and how therapy helps.
