Happy 80th Birthday, Ellen! 🎉

If you've ever visited Boulder Longevity Institute, chances are you've been greeted by this familiar, welcoming face. Ellen is often the first person our patients meet when they walk through the door, and her kindness, warmth, and contagious positivity help set the tone for every visit.

When asked if she had any longevity advice for her fans, Ellen's checklist was simple:

✅ Choose a retirement job you love
✅ Keep working and stay engaged
✅ Surround yourself with great people
✅ Find purpose in every day
✅ Take a trip to Italy with Shannon 🇮🇹

We couldn't agree more. Purpose, connection, and a sense of adventure never go out of style.

Thank you, Ellen, for the joy you bring to our team and our patients every single day. Wishing you a very happy 80th birthday and another year filled with laughter, travel, friendship, and good health.

Help us wish Ellen a happy birthday in the comments below! ❤️🎂

Peptides are often misunderstood as substances that “force” the body to do something unnatural — but in reality, most peptide therapies work by supporting the body’s own communication system.

Your body already uses signaling molecules every second of every day to regulate healing, inflammation, metabolism, recovery, muscle growth, cardiovascular health, and more. Peptides simply interact with those existing pathways to help optimize or restore normal function. That’s a very different concept than turning a process on uncontrollably.

This is one reason peptide therapies are often so well tolerated, even at higher doses, when used appropriately and under medical supervision. The goal isn’t to override physiology — it’s to work with it.

Like any powerful tool in medicine, context matters. The right peptide, the right patient, the right dose, and the right oversight make all the difference.
As research in longevity medicine, regenerative medicine, metabolic health, and performance optimization continues to evolve, peptides are becoming one of the most exciting frontiers in helping the body heal, recover, and function more efficiently.

🚨 HEADS UP, BLI TEAM🚨

We are incredibly excited to officially welcome Elissa Sillars, FNP-C to the Boulder Longevity Institute team as our newest Cellular Optimization Provider.

With years of experience in emergency medicine and trauma care across both Chicago and Florida, Elissa has spent her career on the front lines of healthcare. After witnessing the limitations of the traditional “one size fits all” medical model — especially throughout the years surrounding COVID — she became deeply passionate about a more personalized, root-cause approach to medicine focused on cellular health, optimization, and longevity.

Her background brings an incredible combination of clinical experience, compassion, education, and forward-thinking medicine to the BLI team, and we could not be more excited to have her with us.

When she’s not helping patients optimize their health, you can probably find her enjoying the Florida sunshine, cooking, traveling, exercising, listening to music, or helping her husband run their coffee & breakfast food truck.

Her skills may not be in catching pillows… but they certainly are in catching underlying imbalances before they become bigger problems. Please help us give Elissa a huge welcome to the BLI family 👏

Conventional medicine treats disease. Functional medicine looks at systems. But the future of longevity goes even deeper: the cell. Cellular medicine looks at the pathways driving decline, then uses targeted tools to change them. This is where healthspan medicine is headed.

Peptides can be powerful, but they are not a shortcut around poor sleep, under-fueling, unmanaged stress, hormone issues, or weak recovery.

In SMART longevity care, the fundamentals still matter. The shiny tool should not replace the real work. It should support it. Save this before you spend money on the “advanced” thing first.

A message from our CEO, David Van Bussum—

As we’ve shared, Boulder Longevity Institute has officially moved into our new space… and while this is just the beginning of a brand new chapter for our team, we wanted to take a moment to say one thing first:
Thank you.

None of this happens without you—your trust, your support, and your belief in a different kind of medicine. The kind that asks better questions, looks deeper, and refuses to settle for “normal.”

This move isn’t just about a new space—it’s about what it allows us to build moving forward. A bigger vision. A stronger team. And an even greater ability to help change the future of medicine.

We don’t take that lightly. And we won’t let you down.
We’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead—and even more excited to celebrate it with all of you.

Another inspiring weekend at the CALM Conference (Clinical Application of Longevity Medicine) where the focus was exactly what the name implies: turning cutting-edge longevity science into real clinical practice.

Dr. Abid Husain and Dr.Yurth had the opportunity to join an incredible community of physicians, researchers, and innovators who are all asking the same question: how do we move from reactive medicine to truly proactive healthspan medicine? This year’s conversations centered around advanced diagnostics, peptides, genomics, cardiometabolic optimization, and the clinical protocols that are shaping the future of longevity care.

One of our favorite parts of conferences like this is the collaboration. Medicine evolves when physicians come together to challenge ideas, share data, and bring new strategies back to their patients.

Dr. Husain shared insights on the evolving landscape of cardiovascular risk assessment and preventative cardiology, while Dr.Yurth had the opportunity to dive into the longevity supplements and therapeutics that may meaningfully influence clinical outcomes in the coming years.

Events like CALM are a reminder that the future of medicine isn’t built in isolation—it’s built in rooms full of curious clinicians pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for human health and longevity.
More takeaways coming soon!
