We love how Woloson depicts the beautiful friendship between Charlie and Isabelle, highlighting the beauty that comes from the similarities and differences of a typically developing boy and a girl with Down syndrome. We also love that Isabelle, the subject of the book, was raised in Boulder, Colorado, is a disability advocate, and was the first person with Down syndrome to graduate from a 4 year college in Colorado.

Feeding your kiddo isn’t just about calories — it’s their first taste of a whole world of flavors and textures. Literally!

Here’s how to make it count:
✨ Mess = success. Food on the tray, not just the spoon. Let them dig in with their hands.
🥄 Load it, then let go. Hand-over-hand is fine, but the goal is their hand doing the work.
🌍 Ditch “boring baby food.” Hummus, guac, pesto, tzatziki, bean dip — if you love it, chances are they will too.
👶 Every bite is a lesson. New tastes + textures now = a much less picky eater later (we hope 😅)

Drop a 🍽️ below if your highchair looked like a giant mess today! 🤪

Stella Young challenged the way society talks about disability, particularly the tendency to treat disabled people as inspirational simply for living their lives. Her words invite us to pause, question our assumptions, and listen to disabled people’s own experiences and perspectives.

Question. Listen. Learn. Rethink. 🩷

¡Gracias, Johnelle! Tenemos mucha suerte de contar contigo en Hold You.

Did you know that we have a sleep specialist in our HYSS community? Board member sometimes attends our group sessions to sit with families one on one and tackle any sleep troubles they may be experiencing. If you’ve got questions, she’s got suggestions and she’d love to chat with you anytime!
Better sleep doesn’t have to mean rigid schedules or complicated routines ✨
A few small, intentional habits—like sunlight exposure, movement (without overstimulation) calming connection, and flexible rhythms—can make a big difference in how your baby or toddler sleeps.
Save this for tonight 💾 and DM us to find out when she’s in group next!
