Sixty thousand dollars, and the season is barely underway.

Run For Your Life is a week into year twelve, and all of it has already gathered around the race. That is sponsors and partners saying yes. That is neighbors registering. That is people starting fundraising pages, and friends and family giving to them. None of it arrived from anywhere far away. All of it came from this valley.

So this one is for all of you. The businesses whose names will be on the shirt. The runners and walkers who signed up in the first week. The volunteers who claimed a shift before we had to ask twice. The families who are already raising money in someone’s honor. You will hear from us by name all season, sponsor by sponsor, group by group, because gratitude said out loud while it still matters is the whole point.

Here is where it goes. Help Center has answered this community’s local crisis line since 1971, and all three lines are answered right here, 24 hours a day, every day of the year: 988, 406-586-3333, and 211. Every dollar of this keeps someone on the other end of those calls. When a person in Southwest Montana reaches out on their hardest day, a neighbor picks up, and this is what makes that possible.

Come say hello first. Tuesday, September 8 is National 988 Day, and we are at Roly Poly Coffee from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, 528 N Broadway Ave. Ask us anything, register on the spot, and walk away with a little something special.

There is still plenty of room. Register for the 5K or the Kids’ Run. Take a volunteer shift. Start a fundraising page. Sponsor year twelve, and know that Gold level and above confirmed by September 17 goes on the race shirt.

Year twelve begins today.

Run For Your Life returns Saturday, October 17, at the MSU Stadium, and registration is open now. September is Su***de Prevention Month, so this whole season sits inside the month this country is already paying attention.

The artwork above is by Logan Boye, this year’s artist, and it carries year twelve everywhere it goes this fall.

Some of you have been part of this for eleven years. Some of you are meeting us for the first time, so here is the plain version. Help Center has answered this community’s local crisis line since 1971. All three lines are answered right here, 24 hours a day, every day of the year: 988, 406-586-3333, and 211. When someone in Southwest Montana reaches out in their hardest hour, a neighbor picks up. This gathering is how the valley shows up for that work.

There are four ways in. Run or walk the 5K in costume. Bring the little ones to the Kids’ Run. Take a volunteer shift, or gather five to ten friends and haunt a stretch of the course. Start a fundraising page and turn your miles into support for the lines. Businesses and partners, sponsorship is open, and Gold level and above confirmed by September 17 goes on the race shirt.

Our fall Crisis Line Volunteer training starts in September.

Our greatest need for volunteers is support for our 24/7 crisis, su***de intervention, and resource helplines. Volunteers use active listening to help callers through a hard moment, and connect people to the resources available in this community. You don’t need a background in counseling. You need six training sessions, one four-hour shift a week, and a willingness to pick up the phone.

If you can make all six dates, apply at helpcenterinc.org/volunteer. We’ll email you to set up an interview. If the timing doesn’t work this round, apply anyway and we’ll keep you on the list for future trainings.

Must be 18 or older. Training and shifts are in person in Bozeman.

The first test run is complete, and we are happy to report the slide is a resounding success.

When our new Child Advocacy Center opened this spring, we knew the backyard would matter as much as anything inside. A place to land. Swings, a slide, room to be a kid. This spring it took shape, and now, with the slide finally in, it is ready for the little ones who will come through our doors.

Every child who visits the CAC is here for a reason none of us would wish for them. What we can offer is a space that feels safe, and gentle, and theirs. Sometimes that is a quiet room and a trained advocate. Sometimes it is a swing set and a slide, and the simple, ordinary joy of a good afternoon outside.

Every October, the Gallatin Valley shows up in costume for Run For Your Life, our Halloween 5K in support of su***de prevention and awareness. Year twelve lands Saturday, October 17.

Behind that morning is a whole community of businesses who make it possible, and there are so many cherished businesses across this valley who could be part of it.

Help build year twelve.

Run For Your Life is built by a small volunteer crew who love it, and we are forming the Year Twelve committee now. Each member takes on a role they care about and helps shape the race leading up to the event, on race day, and after.

6 to 9 committee members
1 to 2 hours a week
Meetings July to November, in person and Zoom
Race day October 17, 7 am to 1 pm

Roles, based on interest: Kids’ Run, Food and Drinks, Volunteer Coordination, Costume Contest and Prizes, Sponsorships, In-Kind and Prizes

Every member receives a race t-shirt, a post-race debrief meal with the full crew, and a hand in one of Bozeman’s most beloved community events.

Dear Friends,

Summer is here, the gardens are coming in, and our Annual Meeting is just around the corner. Each year this gathering is our chance to share what the past year made possible. 

For the first time, we are welcoming the community inside our new Gallatin County Child Advocacy Center. Tour the new center, make a flower bouquet with locally grown flowers, wander the gardens and trails, and take a swing on the swings. Light bites will be served, and kiddos are always welcome.

Join us Tuesday, July 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The annual meeting begins at 4:30 sharp, and the rest of the afternoon is yours to wander.

Before the leaves turn, mark your calendar. Run For Your Life, our Halloween 5K, Kids’ Run, and Fun Run/Walk, returns for its twelfth year on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

With MSU football at home the last two Saturdays of October, we landed on the third weekend, which makes for a perfect kickoff to your Halloween season. Pull together a costume, bring the whole family, and join hundreds of your neighbors for a morning that celebrates this community and supports su***de prevention and awareness across Southwest Montana.

Here is hoping for a little warmer weather this year, though if you have spent an October in Bozeman, you know to bring layers either way. Registration opens later this summer, and we will share the details as race day draws closer.

In 1987, Sacks Thrift Store opened its doors. For nearly four decades, this social enterprise has funded the programs of Help Center, Inc., turning donated goods into real support across our community.

Now, a new chapter. Persica Studios is open.

Years in the making, Persica was built this past year by the leadership and crew of Sacks, who set aside the finest gems for a thoughtfully curated, ever-changing collection of vintage treasures, art, and home goods. Every purchase helps carry forward the care, connection, and support Help Center extends across the valley.

Persica’s home carries a deeper meaning. 421 E. Peach Street was the home of Help Center, Inc. from the early 1990s until our move to the new campus. Now, the legacy of connection continues at Peach Street.
