Thank you for being part of it.

On Saturday, October 17, this valley showed up in capes, wigs, and homemade everything. You ran, walked, cheered, volunteered, raised money, and carried people you love onto the course. Joy and remembrance shared the same morning, and nobody had to choose between them.

For the first time, we’ve gathered the whole story into one place. The Year Twelve Report holds the photographs, the people, the partners, and the numbers behind this year, along with a thank-you to everyone who made the morning possible. It’s best on a laptop or tablet, so settle in and take your time.

Your race photos are ready too. Go find yourself.

The day isn’t over yet.

Tonight is our first-ever Post Gathering, and we hope you’ll be there.

The Post Gathering Tonight, 5:00 to 7:00 pm Portal Thermaculture, 660 N Ida Ave

So many of us came to the course this morning carrying someone with us. Tonight, there is a place to keep holding them. It’s a quieter, more intentional evening to remember, to honor, and simply to be with one another, co-hosted by Howdy Bozeman 🤠 and Roly-Poly Coffee Co.. Stay a few minutes or the whole evening. Come as you are. You don’t need to have run to belong here.

And thank you, Bozeman. To everyone who ran and walked, who stitched, painted, and built a costume, who donated and fundraised, who volunteered, or who brought a cheer group to the course, and to our RFYL committee, who carried this all season. You made year twelve more than we could have hoped for.

To our photographers and filmmakers, the photos are on their way. Give us a few days.

Tomorrow, we run.

Twelve years in, and the valley is ready. The shirts are stacked, the course is set, and the forecast is calling for sunshine.

It’s not too late to be part of it. Signing up supports su***de prevention in this valley, and it puts you in the middle of one of the most joyful mornings of the year. Swing by Packet Pickup today from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm at 695 Farmhouse Lane to register and grab your bib and shirt, or sign up tomorrow morning inside Gate 8 starting at 8:30 am.

Meet Logan Boye, the artist behind year twelve.

Logan Boye’ wizard has gone everywhere with us this season. On the poster, the yard signs, and every post you’ve seen from us.

A wizard in a starry robe, drawn with the spirit of 1950s cartoons. Playful on the surface, with a meaning that runs deeper, the way this morning always has.

This year, his artwork also became something to keep. One hundred limited edition sweatshirts, with Logan’s wizard on the back and the Help Center logo on the front.

To every fundraiser who raised $500 or more, we’ve got you. Your sweatshirt is our thank-you, and we’ll be reaching out for your size.

The rest go on sale tomorrow at Packet Pickup for $65, first come, first served. Every dollar supports su***de prevention and intervention in this community. Anything left will come with us to the race, but if this one speaks to you, swing by tomorrow.

Packet Pickup is tomorrow, and you’re invited to stay a while.

Friday, October 16 11:00 am to 6:30 pm 695 Farmhouse Lane, on the HCI campus.

Grab your bib and race shirt on Friday, and you’ll skip the line at Gate 8 on Saturday morning. That leaves more time to warm up, find your people, and get your costume to the photo booth for judging.

There’s more waiting for you this year. Roly-Poly Coffee Co. will be pouring delicious hot coffee from their truck from 11:00 am until early afternoon. PORTAL° will be signing people up for sauna and cold plunge recovery sessions after the race. And Persica Studios, our curated thrift store, is hosting a special pop-up from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm only.

Our limited edition sweatshirts will be there too, $65, first come, first served.

The shirts are here, and one of them has your name on it.

For more than a decade, so many of you have been collecting these, one year at a time. Bright colors, Halloween colors, and for year twelve, the RFYL committee landed on midnight heathered navy. The logo stays the same, the way it always has.

Three days to finish the costume.

Some of you started weeks ago, with fabric, paint, and a garage full of cardboard. Some of you will start Friday night with a bedsheet and good intentions. Both belong on this course.

The costume contest happens Saturday morning at the photo booth inside Gate 8. Come around 9:00 am, because judging wraps up as the races get going. Kids, stop by before the Kids’ Run at 9:30, since winners are awarded as they finish.

There are categories for adults, kids, babies and toddlers, dogs, dogs with their humans, and groups and families.

Still looking for the missing piece? Sacks Thrift, at 138 W Mendenhall St, is a program of Help Center, so every find for your costume supports this work.

Please choose costumes that are respectful of everyone in our community. Run For Your Life is a su***de prevention and mental health awareness event, and many people come carrying someone they love.

Persica is popping up at Packet Pickup this Friday.

It started with Sacks. Since 1987, Sacks Thrift has been a program of Help Center, Inc., a place where neighbors donate clothing, household goods, and everything in between, and where vouchers go to people who need them most.

For almost 40 years, HCI called the house on Peach Street home. Today that house is Persica Studios, our curated thrift shop and an extension of Sacks, filled with some of the best vintage in the valley. Every purchase supports Help Center’s work in this community.

This Friday, a little of Persica comes to Packet Pickup.
Grab your bib and your shirt, pick up a cup of coffee from Roly-Poly Coffee Co., and browse a selection of curated treasures.

Many of us carry someone with us on this course.

Run For Your Life has always held two things at once. It is costumes, laughter, and a whole valley showing up in the cold. And for so many of us, it is also a way to honor someone we love. Nobody has to choose between the two.

At its heart, this is a su***de prevention and awareness event. Talking about su***de openly, checking in on each other, and knowing where to turn can change everything. Help Center has answered this community’s local crisis line since 1971, and all three lines are answered right here in Bozeman, 24 hours a day, every day of the year: 988, 406-586-3333, and 211.

On Saturday morning, HCI crisis counselors will be with us at the stadium. If something comes up for you or for someone with you, look for staff badges or stop by the information table inside Gate 8.

This year, PORTAL° is partnering with Run For Your Life and the Help Center, Inc., opening our space to the whole valley in the name of su***de awareness and prevention.

Saturday, October 17. Come be part of the race, however you move through it. Our doors stay open all day, so book a sauna or a cold plunge, come hang, and be in community.

As evening settles, we are holding the Post Gathering alongside Howdy Bozeman 🤠 and Roly-Poly Coffee Co., a space to come together with joy, with remembrance, and to honor those we carry. Because this valley shows up for one another, and no one should move through their darkest moments alone.

Run, cheer, rest, remember. There is room for all of you here.
