Most standard panels test TSH alone. A complete picture requires Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, TPO antibodies, and TgAb — because subclinical hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, and conversion issues all hide behind a “normal” TSH.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — and we want to widen the conversation. Because for many adults, what gets labeled as anxiety, depression, or “mood disorder” is actually a hormonal pattern that no one ever tested for.

Low estrogen and progesterone fluctuations can mimic clinical anxiety. Low testosterone in men is one of the most under-recognized drivers of low mood, irritability, and motivational collapse. Subclinical thyroid dysfunction shows up as depression more often than fatigue. Cortisol dysregulation produces the exact same physical sensations as a panic response.

This is not to dismiss mental health — it is to honor it. The brain is a hormonally-driven organ. You cannot separate emotional health from endocrine health and expect the picture to make sense.
