✨ Moment to Shine: October 2026 Edition ✨

Enthusiasm is contagious, and Cameron Boucher has a wonderful way of sharing hers with everyone around her.

Whether she's arriving for a shift with a smile, encouraging someone to try a new activity, or helping her coworkers navigate a challenging situation, Cameron brings a genuine sense of positivity and purpose to her work. It's clear that she enjoys what she does, and that enthusiasm makes a difference in the lives of the participants she supports.

This October, we're happy to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Cameron and the compassion, determination, and dedication she brings to LIFE.

One of the things that makes Cameron such a valued member of her team is her ability to balance enthusiasm with thoughtfulness. She understands that supporting others sometimes requires flexibility, patience, and a willingness to compromise. Rather than focusing solely on how things have always been done, Cameron works with those around her to find solutions that benefit both the participants and the program as a whole. She listens, considers different perspectives, and helps create an environment where everyone feels supported.

Her coworkers describe her as determined, and it's easy to understand why. Cameron shows up on time, ready to work, and committed to giving her best. She takes her responsibilities seriously, pays attention to the details, and makes the health and safety of the participants she supports a priority. She is also someone who believes in lifting others up. By listening to her teammates, offering assistance, and encouraging those around her, Cameron helps build a workplace where people feel empowered to succeed together.

Of course, there's another side of Cameron's determination that's especially meaningful: her commitment to making sure the participants have opportunities to enjoy their lives to the fullest.

Cameron brings her knowledge of local places, activities, and events into the program, helping participants discover opportunities to get out, explore, and connect with their community. She doesn't just help plan outings; she brings excitement to them. Her enthusiasm helps turn an ordinary trip into something to look forward to, and she encourages the participants to enjoy not only the activities themselves but also the people and experiences they encounter along the way.

That excitement matters. When someone approaches an opportunity with genuine joy and encouragement, it can help others feel more comfortable, confident, and eager to participate. Cameron understands that community involvement is about more than simply going somewhere. It's about enjoying new experiences, building connections, and feeling like an active part of the world around you.

And while Cameron is known for her upbeat personality, she also knows when a situation calls for a quieter kind of strength. During challenging moments, she remains calm and collected, recognizing that her own demeanor can help the participants around her feel more at ease. It's a valuable quality that reflects both her compassion and her understanding of the people she supports.

What stands out most about Cameron is that her positivity is backed by action. She doesn't simply encourage others to have a good day—she puts in the effort to help make it happen. She brings determination to her responsibilities, compassion to her relationships, and a genuine desire to see the people around her happy and successful.

At LIFE, we know that the attitude someone brings to their work can have a lasting impact. Cameron reminds us how powerful it can be when someone truly enjoys supporting others and approaches that responsibility with both heart and enthusiasm.

Cameron—thank you for the smiles, the encouragement, the teamwork, and the care you bring to every shift. Your determination and compassion help make LIFE a better place for the participants we support and the people who work alongside you.

Congratulations on being our October Moment to Shine recipient! ✨

Have you seen the video Community Provider Network of Rhode Island recently made honoring the amazing and necessary work of DSPs right here in Rhode Island? It's definitely worth a watch—just make sure you have tissues within arm's reach!

It tells real stories, from real participants and DSPs, and showcases the real impact they've had on each other's lives. It highlights the type of connection no amount of technology can replace: the vital and necessary human-to-human connection. The people featured in this video are our neighbors, our coworkers, our peers, our friends, our families, our communities. They are integral to the strong and diverse fabric that is, our Rhode Island. ❤️

Day 5: Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁

Let us FRAME it for you: You make festive outdoor fall plans, but you have to STRIKE them because the autumn chill is a bit too harsh. What a GUTTER BALL of a situation! Or perhaps not...you pivot your plans, and still find joy among the change because sometimes there is much fun to be had in the unexpected. We've posted every day for the past five days highlighting the different kinds of activities our participants have been doing, and this is a last one.

SPARE us a few moments to share Day 5, our final day of the series! 🎳 This group of participants had a great time at Meadowbrook Lanes recently for some friendly games of bowling. Another fun time out in the community, participating in an accessible and inclusive sport, and enjoying quality time together. Did you know Meadowbrook Lanes has been operational for over SEVENTY years? Wow! Our participants love visiting all kinds of places in Rhode Island, and they couldn't be happier that Meadowbrook Lanes continues to provide a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable place foe them to be themselves, and be part of their community. Their smiles say it all!

Thanks for following our Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁 We love sharing what our participants have been up to, so stop by again to see more.

Day 4: Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁

Waving goodbye to the dog days of summer can feel sad, but it's much easier when you're smiling and swinging into fall! We've been posting Five Days of Fall Fun this week showcasing all the different activities our participants have been up to.

Day 4 is—quite literally—for "FOOORRREE!" as our participants recently enjoyed a trip to Topgolf. These two loved being outside, practicing motor skills, and most importantly, having some FUN together! With assistance and safeguards from one of our dedicated DSPs, they fully embraced some friendly competition and said the electronic games felt like being in the middle of a video game—what fun! This won't be the last time Topgolf sees them, we're sure of it!

Friday will be our final Five Days of Fall Fun post, so visit us again tomorrow!

Day 3: Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁

It doesn't matter how you slice it: fall has officially arrived, but there are plenty of activities to do, and they're ripe for the picking! We've been posting Five Days of Fall Fun this week highlighting the different activities our participants have been up to out in the community.

Day 3 showcases something super sweet—literally, and figuratively! This group of participants recently visited Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown for some festive apple picking. 🍎 Does fruit ever taste better than at peak ripeness and plucked by your own hands? Doubt it, but these lovely ladies know the answer to that question first hand. Fresh air, fresh fruit, and fresh faces made for a wonderful fall outing together. They had a great time and look forward to visiting the farm again!

Come back for more on Day 4!

Day 2: Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁

Transitioning from summer into fall doesn't mean we have to give up all of the things we love to do in the warmer months; sometimes, we just have to prepare differently as the seasons shift. We'll be posting Five Days of Fall Fun this week showcasing all the different activities our participants have been up to this fall.

Day 2 highlights a recent camping trip for one of our participants and a DSP at Burlingame State Park. Together, they spent time setting up camp, fishing, making a campfire, and enjoying the solitude that only nature can provide. When it came time for sleep, the cooler fall temps didn't stand a chance against the toasty warm sleeping bags and extra blankets inside the tent. Thoughtful preparation can make or break an experience, and these two were determined to enjoy a wonderful camping trip through good planning, working together, and tactful preparation. This participant expressed an interest in fishing earlier this year, and we are so thankful to have supportive DSPs that take active and caring roles in our participants' lives, transforming their interests into meaningful experiences and heartfelt memories.

Stop by our page tomorrow to see Day 3!

Day 1: Five Days of Fall Fun! 🍂🎃🍁

The leaves are changing, the temps are dropping, and the days are getting shorter as we coast into fall, but our participants are more active than ever! We'll be posting Five Days of Fall Fun this week showcasing all the different activities our participants have been up to recently.

For Day 1, a visit to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at the Roger Williams Park Zoo! Our participants enjoyed an evening stroll through "The Great Pun-Kin Trail, featuring over 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins dedicated to clever wordplay, dad jokes, and pop culture." There's nothing quite like combining good weather, body movement, inclusive activities in the community, and shared experiences with friends. They had a great time!

Check back tomorrow for Day 2!

Help us celebrate Patricia Deleon-Blair, LIFE’s DSP of the Year! 🎉

We know how much Patricia brings to LIFE, and seeing her work recognized alongside other exceptional Direct Support Professionals made us incredibly proud.

Patricia received her honor at the Community Provider Network of Rhode Island’s 38th Annual DSP Celebration on September 23, 2026 at the WaterFire Arts Center. This event celebrates the outstanding contributions of Direct Support Professionals who support people with disabilities throughout Rhode Island.

There was so much to celebrate throughout the room. Each recipient represented exceptional work that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities across the state. Being surrounded by people who give so much of themselves to others was a powerful reminder of how necessary this work is, and how much the people doing it deserve our appreciation.

Patricia, we value you, your talents, and the heart you bring to your work. Your skills, dedication, compassion, and care directly improve the lives of the participants you support. Your daily efforts help people feel valued, supported, and connected, and we are grateful to have you on our team.

Pictured below with Patricia are members of the LIFE Administration, her Program Manager, her Area Director, and her family, all there to cheer her on and celebrate her achievement. It was a special moment to share with the people who know just how much she deserves this honor.

To all the honorees, congratulations! And to every DSP who brings patience, skill, and care to this work: thank you. Your contributions matter every day.

Thank you for everything you bring to LIFE, Patricia. Congratulations—you’ve earned every bit of this award and recognition.

Leave a little love for Patricia in the comments! ❤️

September brought many opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate Rhode Island’s Deaf and hard of hearing community! 💙

For Deaf Awareness Month 2026, the Rhode Island Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing highlighted a calendar of community activities throughout the month—from peer support groups and family gatherings, to workshops, to connection events, a Deaf Awareness Day BBQ, and the Corliss Center’s Annual Deaf Awareness Cookout.

At LIFE, we’re happy to see opportunities like these happening right here in Rhode Island. They help build connections, improve access, and bring greater visibility to Deaf culture and the experiences of people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Every disability deserves awareness, and every person deserves respect, belonging, and opportunities to thrive. We all bring our own strengths, perspectives, and ways of experiencing the world—and our communities are richer because of that.

LIFE proudly supports efforts that celebrate people, welcome differences, and make inclusion part of everyday life. We can’t wait to see how Rhode Island’s Deaf and hard of hearing community celebrates in 2027! Until then, let’s carry that spirit beyond September. 💙
