๐๏ธ EPISODE 4 IS LIVE: "Perception - Wall or Window?" ๐
Y'all... this one hit DIFFERENT.
This is the episode where I brought my girl Je T'aime Michelle-Feagin on the show, and we had the kind of conversation that happens when two women who GET each other just... talk.
You know those friendships where you don't talk every day, but when you connect, it's DEEP? Where your kids are yelling at you to bring your behind in the house because it's been an hour and a half and you're still standing outside talking?
That's THIS.
We talked about:
โจ PERCEPTION: Are you looking at a wall or a window? When life backs you into a corner, are you seeing a dead end or are you looking for the exit?
๐ GRIEF: Je T'aime just lost her grandmother two weeks ago - the woman who showed her unconditional agape love and taught her that every day has a purpose.
๐ช WOMANHOOD: "Being a woman doesn't give you the option to be tired. Because as long as you got breath in your body, you gotta get up and do it. If you don't do it, it will not get done."
๐ฉโ๐ฆ SINGLE MOTHERHOOD: Navigating divorce, raising two kids with a 10-year gap, and trying to "reintroduce myself to myself."
๐ค RAISING BLACK SONS: The fear. The impossible positions. The "he's not a threat but people see him as one" reality. The balance between protection and freedom.
๐ซ FRIENDSHIP WITHOUT PRESSURE: "I don't have to call you all the time for you to know I got your back. When we meet, we do what we do and move on."
๐จโ๐ณ RAISING WELL-ROUNDED SONS: Teaching boys to cook so they don't call you 20 years later complaining their wife can't make it like mama. Breaking gender roles. Giving them choices.
๐ CHOSEN FAMILY: Her grandmother wasn't biological, but she loved her like she was. "It takes a special kind of person to love on somebody as if they're theirs."
REAL TALK MOMENTS:
"I'm an optimist. My glass is always half full, regardless of what obstacles I face." - Je T'aime
"You're the person that looks at the window, not the wall." - Me to Je T'aime
"When I come to the back of a wall, I'm always looking for an exit." - Je T'aime
"Some people say they're tired and they quit. I don't know what it's like to do that. I'm jealous of those people." - Je T'aime
"She was the first person that showed up at my book signing. She was No. 1." - Me about Je T'aime
WHY I LOVE THIS EPISODE:
Because it's REAL. It's not polished. It's not scripted. It's two women who've been through LIFE talking about how we survive, how we keep going, how we find hope when everything feels hard.
Je T'aime just finalized a long divorce.
She just buried her grandmother.
She's raising two kids alone.
And she STILL shows up with a smile, looking fly, being everybody's cheerleader.
That's the kind of strength we don't talk about enough.
That's the kind of friendship that saves lives.
That's the kind of perception - choosing the window over the wall - that gets you through.
If you're going through something right now and you're wondering how you're going to keep going, WATCH THIS.
If you have that one friend who always shows up, TAG THEM. Let them know they matter.
If you're trying to raise good humans in a scary world, WATCH THIS.
If you need to be reminded that you're not alone in your struggle, WATCH THIS.
This is what Mental Greatness is about: Real conversations. Real people. Real healing.
