The Lakeland Emergency Squad proudly serves Andover Borough and Byram Township. The Emergency Squad currently operates 4 NJ OEMS licensed ambulances as well as a Special Services Unit out of our two stations. The Byram Building is located on Route 206 just South of Cranberry Lake. Our first due coverage area is approximately 50 square miles of southe

rn Sussex County, where over 15,000 people reside, about 10% of the County’s population. We provide mutual aid to the surrounding towns including Newton, Stanhope, Netcong, Hopatcong, Lafayette, Mount Olive, Green, Allamuchy, and Sparta. The Squad responds to a wide range of incidents including medical emergencies, fire calls, and motor vehicle accidents and also provides standby support to local youth sporting events, mountain biking competitions, and events at Waterloo Village. Residents of Andover Boro and Byram Township are always invited to volunteer with the Squad, and we have several membership options to choose from.

Weekend Storm Damage Update:
This weekend, Byram Township, along with numerous other townships throughout the state, experienced severe weather events. It is imperative to acknowledge that all township officials, including the Byram Township mayor, township manager, deputy manager, Department of Public Works Superintendent, Fire Chief, OEM coordinator, and myself, collaborated tirelessly to collectively manage responses and storm efforts. We maintained constant communication and provided updates to our partners in power companies, utilities, tree services, and other local, county, and state entities and officials. The safety of our residents and first responders remains our utmost priority.
A substantial portion of the over 1,400 Byram power outages have been restored. All roadways have been at least partially cleared and accessible.
We extend our sincere gratitude for your patience and understanding throughout this process. We trust that you were able to enjoy the Independence Day Weekend.

At this time, all roadways are now accessible to residents and emergency vehicles.

Busses might struggle around portions of Cranberry Lake because of low-hanging and downed wires, specifically
South Shore Rd past Saugtaug Trail,
Ka-To-Nah Trail, and North Shore Rd near Hawthorne.
Adair Street is still blocked, but it is accessible from either end.

Rest assured that we are actively working to have power restored to these areas, but every road is now accessible to residents and emergency vehicles, please use caution.

We extend our gratitude to the Byram Township Volunteer Fire Department members for their invaluable contributions. Not only have they responded to calls of service, but they have also opened and manned the firehouse as a cooling, charging, and water station.
Furthermore, we acknowledge the unwavering support of the Lakeland Emergency Squad and Sussex County Sheriff’s 911 Center who have consistently been available to ensure the well-being of our officers and residents.

Every road is accessible, with caution, except Adair St., which is blocked in the middle.
