A trusted senior community for over 125 years, the not-for-profit Cambridge Homes features 44 independent and assisted living apartments and offers residents a wide variety of cultural, educational, wellness and social programs. The Cambridge Homes is located in a gracious Georgian-style building on Mount Auburn Street just a mile from Harvard Square and adjacent to Mount Auburn Hospital. One of our favorite days of the year… International Play Music on the Porch Day! Always the last Saturday in August, The Cambridge Homes has participated for the last few years with a band on our front porch on Mt Auburn Street. The Lincoln Traditional Jazz Band delighted again this year. We thank the Tufts orientation students for their help setting up and delivering ice cream (good luck Jumbos!). “What if, for one day, everything stopped, and we all just listened to the music?” At TCH, lots of joy… thats what!

Thank you New England Conservatory and Yangfan Xu for a truly wonderful and unique concert. Hearing brand new pieces played by the (living!) composer is a treat. Music is alive and well!!

The Great Elephant Migration is heading up Commonwealth Avenue - and they are a magnificent sight to see! There is so much behind the scenes of this installation. We highly recommend this fun and meaningful exhibit.

We had clear blue skies to view today’s partial (in Cambridge) solar eclipse! Residents popped in and out of our lovely garden to see the progress of the moon shadowing our bright and beautiful sun.

Many thanks to members of the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra who played a beautiful concert for us this weekend. We are so lucky to be near such talented musicians and to have them play as part of their mission to bring wonderful to communities like The Cambridge Homes. We are so grateful!

Do you ever wonder what a “regular” Saturday looks like? Far from being a day when there’s not much happening, we had tutoring on the machines in the gym, exercise, our weekly visit with doggie friend Julie, tech support, the TCH Literary Society discussed some poems, Zeren presented her travel stories from Greece and Istanbul, and we’ve got a movie to look forward to! Not to mention the arts and crafts supplies arranged for people to enjoy. People here like having options and are happy to participate in any and all of the many programs offered.
