Mental Health Moment: The clocks fall back this weekend.

Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1. To help your body adjust, get outside for some morning light and keep your bedtime steady this week.

Shorter days can weigh on mood. If a low mood sticks around for two weeks or more, that's worth a conversation. We're here: 304-346-9689. In crisis? Call or text 988.

Happy Halloween from KP Counseling Center (KPCC)! 🎃

Our office was crawling with ghouls, goblins and other frightful folks today, and we couldn't keep it to ourselves.

👀 Spotted around the KPCC crew:
🐑 Mary Had a Little Lamb, with Lexi the dog starring as the lamb
🦥 Steve Irwin himself (with a sloth sidekick). Crikey!
🦌 Patricia from Widow's Bay, antlers and all
🏈 One diehard Steelers fan
🤠 A cowgirl who rode in ready to wrangle
🖤 A spooky-cute look topped off with Mickey ears
💻 Error 404: Costume Not Found
…and plenty more lurking around every corner.

Our team takes the work seriously. We don't take ourselves too seriously. Swipe through and tell us your favorite in the comments! 👇

Meet Vanessa. She works with teens and adults and brings everything from EMDR to art into the room. Her job, in her words, is to help shine a light on the hurts and needs that usually go unseen, at your pace. Her advice for first-timers: "If it is hard, it probably means it's working!"

A very special thanks to Rev. Ken Tolley for an outstanding workshop last week, “If God is Good, Why Do Bad Things Happen?”.

The workshop encompassed the difficulty of unpacking religious trauma and making space for unanswered questions through learning about how to apply widely diverse theodicies, anti-theodicies, and delving into the lives of the most well-known biblical heroes to understand how they too, experienced suffering and triumph.

By looking into the historical arguments that have attempted to reconcile the coexistence of evil and suffering in the word with the existence of an all-powerful (omnipotent) and all-good (omnibenevolence) God, gave participants incredible tools to help in the hard conversations with clients and loved ones when asked the difficult question, why does God allow bad things to happen?

Again, a big thanks to Rev. Ken Tolley and to our very own therapist, Sarah Stanley, for an amazing job well done!

Someone on our team turned the office message board into a little autumn gallery, and we can’t stop smiling at it. Pumpkins, falling leaves and a rake that’s seen some work. If you know West Virginia in October, you know.

What’s your favorite part of fall? Tell us in the comments.

Mental Health Moment: Name it to tame it.

When a feeling hits hard, try putting a word to it: frustrated, lonely, anxious, overwhelmed. Naming a feeling often takes some of its power away.
