This is healing…
It’s a delicate balance that requires discernment to know when to practice patience and provide a safe space for others to open and explore their own wounds AND when others are avoiding accountability, dodging vulnerability and hard conversations.
Both things can be true, they are avoiding because they are not ready. But to maintain a healthy relationship we have to at least be honest about it. We can’t act as though there’s not an issue because we aren’t ready to open that door!
This type of pattern is typically learned in childhood.
Think about how your parents dealt with their shortcomings and how that impacted you…if they were avoidant, mist likely they still are. You can also trace the patterns back to their childhood. Abuse was normalized and justified for generations, and will be passed down until someone is courageous enough to end it.
Parents even if you’re unable to be accountable for your part because you’re not ready to open that door, you can at least acknowledge the pain and trauma rather than belittle or deny it!
Every human has their own issues they either work through or perpetuate. The work is painful, perpetuating causes suffering. We have the power to heal, end generational strongholds, become emotionally safe people, and create healthy relationships.
It’s possible, it all begins with you!
