Let’s talk about the lats and teres major 😌
These muscles do a LOT when it comes to shoulder movement and stability, and when they get tight or overloaded, our body usually lets us know.
The lats help extend and internally rotate the shoulder, while teres major assists with similar movement and helps support the shoulder.
When these muscles are overworked, we may notice:
• pulling through the sides of the ribs
• tightness through the back of the shoulders
• restricted overhead movement
• upper back stiffness
• that “my shoulders feel glued down” feeling 😭
That’s where mobility work like stretching and gentle foam rolling can be really helpful. The goal isn’t to aggressively smash tissue into submission. It’s to gently improve movement, give the shoulders and thoracic spine some space to breathe, and help the nervous system relax a little.
Especially if you sit a lot, lift, drive, or generally exist like a shrimp 🦐 for 8+ hours a day 👀

Where do you feel shoulder tension the most: neck, upper back, or deep in the back of the shoulder? 👀
