βœˆοΈπŸ“š Wrapping up 4 great days in Pittsburgh! Mia and Rachel attended the annual NADD conference β€” NADD stands for the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed, an organization dedicated to improving services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions.

The conference was a great opportunity to learn from experts, connect with professionals from across the country, and explore new approaches to providing person-centered support.

We’re heading home with new knowledge, fresh perspectives, and ideas to bring back to Common Roots as we continue working to improve the lives of the individuals we support! πŸ’™

πŸŽ³πŸ†πŸ†πŸŽ³

We are so proud of our Common Roots athletes who competed in the Special Olympics Bowling Regionals this past weekend!

These athletes worked hard, showed up, supported one another, and represented with so much enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Whether they brought home a ribbon or simply gave it their all, every one of them has something to be proud of. ❀️

We were also happy to support the team with transportation costs so they could rent a van and make the trip together. Being able to travel as a team, cheer each other on, and share the experience made the weekend even more special!

Congratulations to all of our bowlers! πŸŽ³πŸ‘ We are incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

Michelle Porter RN and Melissa Albert RN learned so much from this training! Some topics may feel uncomfortable, but they are incredibly important in supporting people with IDD. We feel so fortunate to be part of CANDDβ€”an organization that continues to help us learn, grow, and be better at what we do. ❀️

πŸ’™ Together We Thrive! πŸ’™

Our team had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Annual Together We Thrive Conference & Resource Fair today, connecting with families, educators, and community partners who support students receiving special education services.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and continue strengthening the support we provide to the individuals and families we serve! πŸ€πŸ’™

❀️ Giving back to our community!

Today, some of our team members spent time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, helping support families who are going through incredibly challenging times.

At Common Roots, we believe that supporting our community goes beyond the work we do every dayβ€”it’s also about showing up, lending a hand, and making a difference wherever we can.

Action Alert: Help Protect Medicaid

A proposed federal rule could make it harder for people with disabilities to keep their Medicaid coverageβ€”not because they no longer qualify, but because of increased paperwork and new barriers to proving they are exempt from work requirements.

For many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Medicaid provides access to the health care and supports they rely on every day. No one should lose that coverage because of unnecessary administrative hurdles.

The federal government is accepting public comments, but the deadline to submit feedback is July 31.

Make your voice heard. Tell the government to protect people with disabilities, reduce unnecessary paperwork barriers, and ensure eligible individuals don't lose coverage.

Submit your public comment by July 31: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F4wmhKIk%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBExb0ZObnRLcUg0WFZDR05hS3NydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4yYqVURP2cLvEqSbvtPnEQWxvbeAZbh1VYFqeSm_AVRkO6nD2kUqculh6OjQ_aem_FDGo6wMNauzgXJrXha0Qag&h=AUCSRJOEDK0n9eSu0rEEWoB_UEP9T3MeZ2r-OvjI0qb10lyy_YqaYwkb4DVxFsLo4dLZWKuDK6IFcazo2GTfZcdG0qOU9Dtv9SeUDQdUZiKKB-PC5aQMhQNO0HlMV4ncFbAZEo2PKPo5UIf5XrcUdA&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AUDODLBAwrM806cvI66JxhbOUKf3d1D1F5ggzYHCSnJValOS1uxq7Gj6RjJxofNom3AfjNoKM9swn0Pb-HA5vTrSjPTjYcIBPXdhFySwQPjyn5aeo5Om4t1PQZa9QR12u-S-TKXZJlr24PlStuHvrF4PZVmOm9Gxqa0mVL1O1QfAM9MRg4fM09z2SDC2W2m_5ZeqCFCDv94sQPQVpHUGUas4-w
