🚨 A Landmark Moment for Public Health in Tennessee 🚨

On July 1, 2026, Matthew Davenport’s Law (HB1649) will officially take effect, banning all forms of kratom and its potent derivative 7-OH statewide.

Named after 27-year-old Matthew Davenport, who tragically lost his life to a lethal interaction between kratom and prescription medications, this bipartisan law sends a powerful message: "natural" has never meant safe.

Our CEO, Dr. Matthew Bruhin, and our Medical Director, Dr. Nicholas Conley, were honored to provide the clinical voice that helped inform this crucial legislation.

"I’ve sat across from patients in withdrawal from kratom and 7-OH — patients who didn’t even know they were opioid-dependent," shared Dr. Bruhin. "The science is clear: Kratom drives dependence, precipitates withdrawal, and in combination with other medications, it kills."

To every family in Tennessee who pushed for this change, including Matthew Davenport’s family—we see you, and we are grateful.
