🎒 The Kindergarten Years (4–5 Years)

Kindergarten is a season of BIG milestones! As children prepare for school, they're learning to communicate more clearly, follow classroom routines, develop early learning skills, make friends, and become more independent in their daily activities.

THERAPY THURSDAY: Snip, Snip, Skill Building! ✂️
Scissor skills in action! Cutting along a line might look simple, but it's packing in some big developmental wins:

✨ Bilateral coordination (one hand cuts, one holds the paper)
✨ Fine motor control and hand strength
✨ Hand-eye coordination
✨ Visual motor skills (following the line)
✨ Focus and precision

Parent tip: Start with simple straight lines before moving to shapes like squares and circles. Snipping playdough or straws first can help build the hand strength needed for trickier cutting tasks!

The preschool years are filled with big growth! During this stage, children are expanding their vocabulary, learning to play with others, following directions, solving problems, and becoming more independent.

Understanding developmental milestones can help you know what skills are typically expected to emerge during these years. If your child is struggling to communicate, play with peers, follow directions, manage sensory experiences, or develop age-appropriate motor skills, an evaluation can help determine if therapy may be beneficial.
