💚 Did you know? Your child can have an ear infection without a fever!

While fever can be a symptom, it's not always present. Some children may show other signs that are easy to overlook.

🔎 Watch for:
👂 Ear pain or tugging
😣 Increased fussiness or irritability
🌙 Trouble sleeping
🔊 Difficulty hearing or responding to sounds

Remember: Ear tugging alone doesn't necessarily mean an infection. A pediatrician can examine your child's ears to determine what's causing their discomfort.

If your little one is showing persistent symptoms, Vickery Pediatrics is here to help! 💚

🤧 Does your child's cough sound like a barking seal? It could be croup!

Croup is a common respiratory illness in young children that causes swelling around the voice box and windpipe, leading to a distinctive barking cough and sometimes noisy breathing.

It's most common in children between 6 months and 3 years old, especially during the colder months.

🔎 Signs parents should watch for:

🐶 Barking cough: A loud, seal-like cough.

🌙 Worse at night: Symptoms often become more noticeable at bedtime or when your child is upset.

💨 Noisy breathing: A high-pitched sound when breathing in, known as stridor.

🌡️ Cold-like symptoms: A runny nose, congestion, or fever may also occur.

💚 The good news? Most cases of croup are mild and improve within a few days. However, some children may need medical treatment to reduce airway swelling.

🚨 Know when to seek help: Stridor while resting, worsening breathing, or difficulty swallowing needs prompt medical attention. Severe breathing difficulty or blue lips are emergencies.

At Vickery Pediatrics, we're here to evaluate your child's symptoms and provide the care they need.

🤧 That cough keeping your little one up at night?

Coughs are common in children, especially during cold and flu season. While many improve with time and supportive care, knowing how to keep your child comfortable and when to seek medical advice can make all the difference. 💚

🏡 Encourage rest: A clean, cool-mist humidifier may help if the air is dry.

💧 Keep them hydrated: Fluids can help loosen mucus and make it easier to clear.

👃 Ease congestion: Saline nasal drops or spray can help relieve a stuffy nose.

🩺 Know when to call: Contact your pediatrician if your child's cough persists, gets worse, comes with a fever, or interferes with sleep and daily activities.

🚨 Severe difficulty breathing, blue lips, or difficulty waking your child requires emergency medical attention.

At Vickery Pediatrics, we're here to help your little ones feel better and give parents peace of mind!
