Of course, here at PineCrest, we celebrate healthy aging all year long. And we are committed to EVERYTHING that healthy aging entails.

Good health doesn’t just mean physical health. We know that mental, emotional and social health are just as important.

These days, anyone can fall prey to a scam. Still, data shows that seniors suffer the most severe monetary damage from scams, so your loved one may be especially at risk.

The best protection for all of us is awareness! You can help your loved one spot red flags and practice safe communication habits.

Here are some tips to share with them (and keep in mind yourself!):
🏃Be suspicious of urgent requests. Scammers often bank on fear and urgency.

💳Be suspicious of odd payment types. Scammers like to request money through unusual methods like wire transfer, money orders, or gift cards.

☎️Just hang up on callers you don’t know! Legitimate callers can always leave a message.

💬Don’t click on suspicious links, especially those inside unexpected emails or text messages.

🏧Don’t give away any personal information, like social security numbers or bank information, to anyone you don’t know!

Moving is never easy. 🚚

Despite the resources and care of assisted living, it can be challenging for your loved one to adjust to their new place. But your support can make a difference! ♥️

Here are some tips to help them start to feel at home:
🧸Cozy up their room with a favorite blanket or sentimental throw pillow.
🖼️Hang up family pictures or cherished children’s artwork. Remind them who loves them!
📆Make a schedule for visits and phone calls so they can look forward to that connection.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Introduce them to facility staff and their neighbors.
🎲Join them for a community activity or a meal in the dining hall.
