Exciting news, pharmacy family! 🎉

If you or someone you love has experienced hearing loss - or you’re simply curious about over‑the‑counter hearing aids - mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 3rd because Little Drugs of Demopolis is hosting “Hearing Screening Day” from 10 am to 2 pm! 🥳

On World Hearing Day, we shared that we were working toward bringing more accessible hearing care to our community. On June 3rd, we’re making that promise real!

As part of The University of Alabama’s “Accessible Hearing Healthcare” study, we’ll be offering:

FREE hearing screenings

🦻The possibility of receiving OTC hearing aids at NO COST to you

🎁 A complimentary cleaning & maintenance kit

💳A $40 gift card for participating in the study

Screenings will be available anytime during, 10 AM to 2 PM - provided in order of arrival

Here’s what to expect when you come in:

1. Your Hearing Screening 📉

One of our trusted Little Drugs pharmacy technicians will guide your screening. The screening itself should take around 15–30 minutes.

2. Consent + Quick Survey 📋

If your results show that you are eligible for OTC hearing aids, we will walk you through the details of the study and what your participation means. If you agree, we will provide you with a consent form and survey questions. This confirms your interest and helps us understand how helpful the screening and hearing aids are for you.

3. If You’re Eligible ✅

You’ll receive your own pair of OTC hearing aids completely free, along with a maintenance kit. Our technicians will walk you through how to use and care for them so you feel confident before heading home.

4. Four‑Week Follow‑Up 📞

There will be a check in with a short survey four weeks after your screening to see how things are going and make sure you’re satisfied with your experience!

🇺🇸Fun Fact Friday: Memorial Day🇺🇸

Every Memorial Day, you’ll see bright red poppies pinned to jackets and tucked into wreaths - but the story behind them goes deeper than their petals.

The Memorial Day poppy became a symbol of remembrance after World War I, when Canadian surgeon Lt. Col. John McCrae noticed poppies blooming across the battlefields where soldiers had fallen. His poem “In Flanders Fields” inspired two women - one in the U.S. and one in France - to begin making and sharing red poppies to honor the fallen and raise funds for veterans.

Today, many of those poppies are still handmade by veterans as part of therapeutic rehabilitation programs. 🌹

❤️ Where Mental Health Comes In

That tradition isn’t just about remembrance - it’s also about healing.
The act of crafting poppies provides veterans with purpose, connection, and emotional support. It’s a reminder that mental health care is a vital part of honoring those who served, especially during Mental Health Awareness Month.

At Little Drugs of Demopolis, we honor the courage of those who gave everything - and we stand with the veterans and families who continue to carry the weight of service.
