Soar Autism Center

Soar Autism Center Empowering kids with autism to soar. ESDM-led ABA, Speech, OT, & Diagnostics in CO, AZ, MD, and PA. We also offer Diagnostic services.

Soar Autism Center is building a network of therapy clinics where children with autism and their families receive life-shaping services that support them to thrive. We provide naturalistic and play-based ABA therapy, the Early Start Denver Model, speech therapy, occupational therapy, mental health support, and diagnostic services to children ages 18 months to 10 years old who have been diagnosed w

ith ASD or other developmental conditions. We craft individual therapy plans in deep coordination with families, setting goals that are ambitious and focusing on building skills that enable children to grow into their fullest selves. We are local to Colorado and have 7 clinics in the Denver metro, from Broomfield to Centennial.

Ever wondered why the Soar therapy rooms look like they do? Each room is designed with intention to appeal to children under 6 and feel like welcoming play spaces rather than rigid clinical offices. Along with putting kiddos at ease, it allows our therapists to jump right onto the floor with your child to teach speech, motor skills, and social connections through play.

The new school year is in full swing for many, and that can bring up thoughts of transitioning to mainstream school systems. We are so proud that 91% of our families felt Soar prepared them for a successful school transition. ✈️

Our goal at Soar is to partner with parents to help children build the independence, confidence, and functional communication skills they need to thrive. By combining Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) naturalistic therapy, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy under one roof, we practice classroom routines and build social connections in a warm, natural setting, helping kids and their families feel ready for whatever step is next.

Every child grows and develops on their own unique timeline, but as a parent, your intuition is powerful, and noticing early differences in how your toddler communicates, plays, or connects can be the first step in getting them the support they need. Some common early signs of autism in young children ages 1 to 5 include:

👀 Limited eye contact or delayed response to their name
✋Fewer gestures like pointing, waving, or reaching
🗣️ Delays in speech or using unique ways to communicate
👋 Repetitive movements like hand-flapping
😤 Getting upset by small changes in routine

Noticing these signs, or others, can feel disorienting or confusing, but also allows you to find answers and paths to support sooner. If you ever feel unsure about your child's development, try the free online M-CHAT-R (available here: https://tr.ee/ydJfSF), talk with your pediatrician, or call us if you're ready to schedule a diagnostic appointment - no referral is needed.

Big transitions - like starting a new school year or beginning therapy - can bring big feelings for little ones (and parents!).

When routines shift, visual predictability helps build confidence and reduces anxiety. One of our favorite simple strategies to try at home is the Sticker Calendar Method:
1️⃣ Pick out stickers together: Let your child choose stickers of characters they love or their favorite color markers.
2️⃣ Mark the start date: Highlight the first day of school or therapy with a special star or silly face so they can easily look ahead.
3️⃣ Review it daily: Make a habit of pointing out today's date together every morning and adding a sticker to mark off the days.
4️⃣ Use familiar phrasing: Frame the day using positive, familiar language like "Starting at Ms. Amanda's!" or "Center play day!"

What makes a therapy space feel like it was truly built for kids? When we designed our new centers across Maryland, we didn't just set up standard rooms - we build environments tailored to how kids actually learn, explore, and connect. Swipe through for a peek inside!

🔹Interest-Based Spaces: From Forest and Construction themes to Ocean and Dollhouse rooms, our 1:1 spaces are designed around what sparks each child's individual joy.
🔹 Movement & Play Built-In: OT swings, trampolines, and indoor play spaces are integrated directly into daily routines to support sensory regulation and motor skills.
🔹 Integrated Care: ABA, Speech, and OT work side-by-side in these spaces so progress feels natural and play-based.

You want your child to love the water AND you know that elopement and water safety are the #1 stressors for autism parents in the summer.

At Soar, we love using social stories to help make activities like a trip to the pool predictable, safe, and fun. Social stories use simple language and real pictures to walk through new or high-stress experiences ahead of time. If you're building a pool-day social story for your child, here are three key things to include:

✨ 1. Start with excitement: Begin the story by talking about how much fun swimming, splashing, and playing in the water with family is going to be!
📸 2. Show what to expect: Use real photos of your local pool. Point out things like where you will walk, where you will set down your towels, and what the water looks like.
⚠️ 3. Call out potential stressors: Don’t skip the tricky parts! Include a page about waiting calmly at the pool ladder, putting on sunscreen, or wearing a life jacket so they know exactly what to expect before they can jump in.

We believe clinical support should directly impact your child's safety and confidence in the real world.
