Duke researchers discovered that antibodies produced naturally inside tumors after immunotherapy can recognize cancer cells. By engineering one into CAR T cells, they targeted both tumor cells and cancer-promoting immune cells, revealing a potential new source for future cancer therapies. Click the link to learn more.

Meyerhoff et al. identify tumor-infiltrating plasma cells as a source of antibodies with therapeutic potential. Their lead antibody, PC-1, recognizes citrullinated antigens on cancer and tumor-promoting myeloid cells and can be repurposed to guide CAR T cell therapy.

For decades, a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer has carried a clear message: while treatments can help control the disease and extend life, the disease is generally considered incurable. Research led by DCI suggests that some patients with limited metastatic breast cancer may benefit from a more aggressive treatment approach than has traditionally been offered.

On October 3, 375 riders across 50 teams came together for the inaugural Duke Rides on Duke’s West Campus. Thanks to your extraordinary passion, energy, and generosity, we raised more than $660,000 in support of cancer research and care for pediatric and adult patients at Duke.
