Trick-or-Treating starts before Halloween night! 🎃

Remembering to set clear expectations ahead of time can help make Halloween a fun and positive experience for your loved one and your entire family. Pro tip: Remember to also let your child know how independent (i.e., away from you) they can be! Halloween doesn't look the same for everyone, however it's important to meet your child where they are. Preparing ahead of time is the best way to give them the best experience.

In times like these, our loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) may need extra support processing difficult news and big emotions.

years working in aba: one year!
my experience as a behavior assistant with pbs:
my experience with pbs has allowed me to work with clients in both home and school settings and has taught me so much about providing individualized support. i’ve gained experience building rapport, implementing behavior programs, collecting data, and helping clients work toward their communication, social, and daily living goals. my favorite part has been seeing the small improvements my clients make and being able to build positive relationships with them. this experience has motivated me to continue growing in the aba field and become the best rbt i can be.

some of my favorite things:
working out and going to the gym, listening to music, and spending time with my boyfriend, family, and friends! 🤍

"Extinction in behavior analysis has nothing to do with dinosaurs (if you have research to prove me wrong, send it my way). Extinction involves the withholding of reinforcement for a previously reinforced behavior, resulting in a decrease in how often that behavior occurs in the future."

Sometimes, boundaries can get crossed when working in the school setting by working in multiple capacities and wearing different hats.

As the new school year begins, remember to review your role, the scope of your role, and continue to communicate this with your supervisor, staff, and your clients at large.

It’s incredibly important to practice within your defined role and that you know what your defined role is. This will protect you, your clients, and everyone involved.
