Irene Patricia Delaney was born December 20, 1943 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Joseph and Irene (Hense) McDermott. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from O’Gorman High School in 1962. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota, where she earned her nursing degree.

Irene was blessed with two sons, Jeffrey and John Delaney, with her former husband Jack Delaney. She raised her children in Spearfish, South Dakota in the Black Hills. In 2008, Irene moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to her family.

Throughout her life, Irene was a dedicated nurse who enjoyed providing care to others. She was also devoted to her Catholic faith and became both a Benedictine Oblate and a Dominican 3rd Order. After moving to Omaha, Irene became a member at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Irene also had a love for animals, and her dogs especially had a special place in her heart. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.

Irene’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was incredibly loving and loyal to them, and they were always in her thoughts. They will remember her vibrant personality, sense of humor, and her love of dancing.

Ian Edward Smith, age 27, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, passed away on October 24, 2026. He was born
on January 20, 1999, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Brian and Paula (Thursby) Smith.

Ian was known for his love of baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals, much to the chagrin of his
father, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. His father Brian and Ian enjoyed many an evening watching
the Omaha Storm Chasers.

Ian loved sports and played baseball from a young age, first with Challenger Baseball League
and later with Miracle League Baseball. He also participated in the Special Olympics, earning
various awards in bowling and basketball.

Ian also enjoyed building Legos and scale models and attending IPMS (International Plastic
Modelers Society) meetings with his dad. He also shared a love a trains and would watch the
Big Boy when it came through Omaha and occasionally enjoyed a train ride. One of his favorite
activities was playing Nintendo WII and trying to beat his brothers scores and usually besting his
mom and dad.

Ian graduated from Elkhorn High School in 2017 and continued in the school’s life skills program
until the age of 21. He then went on to participate in a day services program at Hands of
Heartland, where he enjoyed hanging out with friends and going on outings.

A private family service will be held for Ian, followed by a Celebration of Life around his
birthday. Additional details will be announced at a later date.

David John “Dave” Glatte passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 55, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in North Chicago, IL, on July 18, 1971, Dave grew up in a military family, moving from place to place through the early part of his childhood. When Dave was 10, his family moved to Elkhorn, Nebraska, where they would remain for the rest of his life. After attending Elkhorn Public Schools through grade school, Dave went to Creighton Preparatory School for high school and then the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. His years of school, and his fraternity, Beta Sigma Psi, gave him some of his best friends until the end of his life. After college, Dave started working at Heartland Hobby Wholesale in the sales of model trains and other hobby supplies. He was very dedicated to his job and served the company that became like a second family to him for over 30 years. Dave was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained steadfast in his faith through every turn. Over the years, he built a life centered on faith, family, community, and hard work. Dave was known for always wanting to teach and found joy in teaching confirmation class for years at his church, Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Dave loved soccer. As a coach, he loved teaching the game and made a tremendous impact on the players he coached. Dave was also passionate about developing young soccer referees. Shirley Joan Smith passed away from Alzheimer’s on October 21, 2026 in Elkhorn, Nebraska at Marquis Place where she lived for the last two and a half years. The first years living in their assisted living and the last in Magnolia Trails Memory Care.

Shirley was born in Shambaugh, Iowa on October 10, 1936 to William and Helen Babb. She was the only child and pretty well pampered for that time. She graduated from Clarinda High School, attended Clarinda Junior College and went on to Northwest Missouri State where she studied music. She then moved to Omaha to work at WOW Radio and enjoyed picking out the music for the DJs to play on air. After that, she worked a few different secretarial jobs, the longest at Wise Mack Trucks, where she retired after 30 years.

She was married to Larry Smith in 1959 and again in 1978. He was the only one for her and she waited until he “grew up a little” and married him again. They would only have four years together before he passed.

In 1961, they welcomed son, Steve, into the world and in 1964, daughter, Lori. Shirley lived in the same little house in Millard until she moved to assisted living. She had many helpers in her last few years in that house. Neighbors that kept an eye on her and took great care of her.

Shirley spent a lot of time with friends and family playing poker, keno, and bingo. She loved going to Las Vegas and gambling “just a little”. Luckily she knew when to stop. She enjoyed playing poker so...

Kim Steven Palmer was born on November 15, 1952 in Bakersfield, California to Kay and Gretchen (Gill) Palmer. He grew up in Elkhorn, NE, and graduated from Millard High School in 1972. In his younger years, Kim liked traveling with family, fishing, camping, snow skiing, and water skiing.

On February 14, 1995, Kim married Linda at Our Saviour’s Baptist Church in Elkhorn, and at the same time became a dad to Randy Shideler. He was so happy to become a husband and dad at age 42, and to later become Grandpa!

Kim did work repairing antiques, worked for Art Push & Sons, and later started his own carpentry business, KLP, Inc. Kim had a passion for carpentry and enjoyed it in his free time as well. He was a member of NARI – National Association for the Remodeling Industry. Involvement at church was also important to him, and he was a part of the Men’s Group at Christ Community Church and also helped with their landscaping and security.

Always an avid traveler, Kim was able to spend two years and two months traveling the world and was able to visit his 50th state, Alaska, just two months before he passed away. Despite his world travels, hamburgers, ice cream, and water remained his favorite foods and drink of choice.

Kim’s handlebar mustache was his signature look. He was also known to ask, “Ain’t it great?” and “Are we having fun yet?” and tell people he was “Better than I deserve.” Kim often displayed his optimistic and encouraging attitude and...
