Davane Donald Dreessen was born December 20, 1939, in Pipestone, Minnesota to Marvin and Melva (Bjerke) Dreessen. Davane was confirmed in the Lutheran church in 1952, and attended Ruthton High School until his senior year, graduating from Pipestone High School in 1957.
After high school, Davane enlisted in the United States Air Force in October 1957. He served as a radio specialist, spending time in Germany during the Cold War, until his honorable discharge in October 1963, holding the rank of Airman 1st Class.
Davane married Brenda Illg on June 13, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Wilson, Minnesota, and to this union, three children were born: Shanna, Darren, and Gerrad.
Davane worked as a farmer near Pipestone for the first two years after his Air Force service, and his first year as a newlywed. He moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota with Brenda, and worked as a Ford mechanic for two years. In 1966, Davane started his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, and he worked for them through his retirement in 1990. With Northwestern Bell, Davane started as a lineman, moved to installations, and finally to the central office as a manager where he wrote protocol and training material. He once said, “I started by climbing poles, then I punched wires, and now all I do is push a pencil”. Brenda worked for the phone company, too, and their mutual careers took them from Albert Lea to Winona, MN, Ankeny, IA, Whitehouse Station, N.J.,...

Janna Sue (Bullington) Wise, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Gretna, Nebraska.

Born March 13, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Janna spent her childhood in both Oklahoma and Omaha, Nebraska. A proud graduate of Benson High School, she later attended Hastings College before returning to Omaha to build her life and career, serving the community for many years through her work in education.

Janna lived with a loving heart, fierce independence, deep faith, and remarkable determination. A member of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Omaha, her faith was reflected in the way she lived and loved others. She saw value in people and believed deeply in their potential, often seeing possibilities in them that they had yet to see in themselves.

Her spirit was evident throughout her career with Omaha Public Schools. Janna served in many roles as both a teacher and an administrator, dedicating herself to students, families, and education. She treasured the relationships she built with those she served and also cherished her time working with Dr. Benning at the Omaha Public Schools Teacher Administrative Center.

Some of Janna’s favorite stories involved students and parents who underestimated the petite woman standing in front of them, only to quickly discover her tenacity. Charles K. Karloff, 98, of Yutan, NE, passed away August 31, 2026, at South Haven in Wahoo, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Elsie Karloff and his brother Bill Karloff. Charles is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Kim Karloff, and her husband Larry Lenhart, son Chad and his wife Elizabeth Karloff, grandchildren Luke Lenhart, Nicole and husband Don Buresh, Clayton Karloff and Ethan Karloff, and great granddaugthers Brooklyn and Brynlee.
Private interment was held at Hollst Lawn Cemetery, Yutan. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association on behalf of their daughter, Kim.

Terry Charles Loptin, of Bennington, NE, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2026.
Born on December 15, 1941, in Omaha, NE, to Dorothy and Charles Loptin, Terry spent his
early years with his parents living on the Boys Town farm before moving to a farm in
Washington County, NE. He attended Dornacker Country School and Bennington High School,
where he excelled in academics, ran track, and played baseball and basketball. It was during
his high school years that he met his future wife, Carol Johnsen.
Terry graduated from Bennington High School in 1960 and married Carol on October 7, 1961,
at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Following high school, he worked for Anderson
Equipment before making his dad proud by embarking on a 34-year career with OPPD, retiring
in 2000. In retirement, he worked part-time for Plains Equipment delivering parts and driving for
the annual hay rack ride.
His passion for sports led him to referee basketball for many years, and he cherished attending
his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sports and dance events. Terry also
enjoyed traveling and camping with Carol throughout the United States. A collector at heart,
Terry enjoyed gathering John Deere tractors, toy farm machinery, Husker memorabilia, and
other collectibles. He shared his passion for farm machinery with others as a member of the
Platte Valley Tractor Club.

Robert Dale Keeler was born January 21, 1965, in Sutherland, Nebraska to Dale and Joyce (Bergmann) Keeler. Bob grew up in Valley, Nebraska, graduating from Valley High School in 1984. Growing up, Bob was interested in photography and even developed the photos he took himself. He also took part in band and choir in school. He served as a firefighter and EMT for the Valley Volunteer Fire Department, as had his father and one of his grandfathers.
Bob married Karen Seebeck on July 31, 1993, at St. John’s Catholic Church on the campus of Creighton University. Bob and Karen have made their home in Omaha for the last 25 years.
Bob has worked many various jobs through the years, but he liked his most recent the best, working as a network controller at West Corporation.
Bob was a kind, friendly, caring and loving man, who was loved and respected by those who knew him. He was a genuinely good person, who would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. He loved classic rock, while still being a Parrothead; his favorite movie was “St. Elmo’s Fire”, and he proudly wore his “Cubby Blue” while cheering for the Chicago Cubs. His other favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He liked to sip on a cold iced tea, or have some Guinness or a little Jack Daniels, and was always up for a meal at Fernando’s.
