As October is AAC Awareness Month, I wanted to showcase something I have been working hard on: AAC Editor.
AAC Editor is a FREE open-source Windows app that helps automate the repetitive work of building vocabulary pages in TD Snap. Instead of spending so much time clicking through edits one by one, AAC Editor helps create pages, add buttons, search for symbols, and apply changes directly in TD Snap.
The goal is simple: help AAC users, families, and SLPs spend less time editing and more time communicating.
In this demo, I create a new page filled with Mythical Creatures from Harry Potter. I utilized the (optional) AI features to suggest words, determined the words that I actually wanted, and then AAC Editor handled the repetitive editing steps automatically. It also includes verification after edits, an undo option, and optional AI suggestions that run locally on your computer.
This project is still growing, but I’m excited to share what it can already do. It works with TD Snap and will soon be functioning for Grid 3 on Windows!
