As our first week of 2026 Summer Camp comes to an end, we are overwhelmed with gratitude, excitement, and pride as we look back on everything our campers experienced this week!
This week was packed with hands-on learning, community connections, teamwork, and endless fun. Our campers had the opportunity to cool off during Water Day, where laughter filled the air as they splashed, played, and enjoyed the summer sunshine with their friends.
We were honored to welcome so many incredible community helpers throughout the week. A huge thank you to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Okaloosa County Sheriffs Drone Unit, and the Fort Walton Beach Crime Scene Unit for spending time with our campers. The children learned about the important work law enforcement officers do to keep our community safe and had the opportunity to explore police vehicles, equipment, and demonstrations.
One of the highlights of the week was watching an amazing K9 demonstration. Campers learned about the special skills of working dogs, including therapy K9s that provide comfort and support, as well as search-and-rescue K9s that help locate people when they are lost. The excitement on the campers' faces was priceless as they watched these incredible dogs in action!
We also want to extend our sincere thanks to the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District and the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department for visiting our camp. Campers explored fire trucks, learned about fire safety, and got an up-close look at the equipment firefighters use every day to protect our community.
Construction Day challenged our campers to think creatively, problem-solve, and work together as teams. Using a variety of materials, they designed and built their own bridges and structures, learning valuable lessons about engineering, communication, and collaboration along the way.
On Mail Day, campers discovered the important role mail carriers play in our daily lives. They learned how mail travels from one place to another and gained a greater appreciation for the people who help keep our communities connected.
What makes camp so special isn't just the activitiesβit's the friendships being built, the confidence being gained, the teamwork being practiced, and the memories being created every single day. Watching our campers learn new skills, step outside of their comfort zones, ask questions, and engage with the world around them has been truly rewarding.
The learning and fun were endless this week, and we can't wait to see what adventures next week brings. Thank you to our amazing campers, families, staff, and community partners for helping make the first week of Summer Camp 2026 such a tremendous success!
Here's to another week of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories! βοΈππππ¬ποΈπ
