CMA JOINS LEGAL CHALLENGE TO ILLINOIS' ASSISTED SU***DE LAW: CMA announced its decision to enter the legal challenge against the new Illinois' physician assisted su***de law during its 95th Annual Educational Conference, where nearly 700 members gathered over the past few days in Phoenix, Ariz. During his announcement, CMA President Dr. David Hilger said, "The Catholic Medical Association and its members are committed to treating all patients with the love of Christ. We cannot agree to the State’s demand that we help patients end their own lives, in direct violation of our rights of conscience. We are called to accompany rather than abandon patients in their times of greatest need."
