At The Pediatric Center, we're big believers that reading is one of the best ways to keep young minds active, curious, and learning all summer long!

The Frederick County Public Libraries Summer Reading Challenge is kicking off with events throughout the county, and we encourage families to join in the fun. Check out the post below for kickoff dates and locations near you.

And don't forget! This Friday, June 5, Roy Rogers is partnering with the library for Summer Reading Night. Enjoy dinner while supporting a great cause and helping put more books into the hands of local children. 📖🍔

At The Pediatric Center, giving back to our community and encouraging a love of reading are both things we are passionate about!

Join Frederick County Public Libraries and Roy Rogers on Friday, June 5 from 5–8 PM at any Frederick County Roy Rogers location. A portion of proceeds from tagged orders will support the Summer Reading Challenge and help keep kids reading all summer long.

Plus, participants in this year’s challenge will have the chance to win some amazing prizes - including FREE Roy Rogers for a year! 🎉

Be sure to mention the library fundraiser when ordering in-store, or add the “fundraiser” item to your online order.

Parenting isn’t about having perfect days all the time. Some days are hard - for parents, for kids, or for everyone in the house. Tough moments happen, and one rough day doesn’t define your relationship with your child.

The good news is that connection can be rebuilt in the little moments. Sometimes the smallest gestures can help everyone reset, reconnect, and get back on track. ✨

Each month, our team chooses an organization to support through our Jeans for a Cause fundraiser! Staff can donate $5 to participate, and every dollar goes toward making a difference. 💙

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, our Friday, May 29th fundraiser will support the Frederick County Mental Health Association and the important work they do throughout our community.

The Mental Health Association provides critical support, advocacy, education, crisis services, and resources for individuals and families facing mental health challenges right here in Frederick County.

☀️ Pretty soon we will be counting down the days until summer!
With school breaks, vacations, pool days, and outdoor fun right around the corner, it’s a great time for a few important summer safety reminders!

As families head outside more often, remember to:
🧴 Apply sunscreen regularly
💧 Keep kids well hydrated
🚲 Wear helmets while biking/scootering
🏊 Never leave children unattended near water
🦟 Check for ticks after outdoor activities
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked car - even for a minute

A few simple precautions can go a long way in helping kids stay safe, healthy, and ready for all the fun ahead! 💙
