Your health and safety come first, so please stay cool, stay hydrated, and take extra precautions during this week's heat. We look forward to celebrating Disability Pride together with Listen and all our friends in September! Be sure to mark your calendars for September 29—we can't wait to see you then! 💙

It is the best thing to do in these conditions. We are sorry for the inconvenience, blizzards and ice, 100 degrees, high heat index what's next? IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MEDICAID CHANGES!

North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) is preparing to implement several federally required changes to the state’s Medicaid program over the next two years, including work requirements for some Medicaid Expansion members.

These new requirements are a result of the federal Working Families Tax Cut Act passed by Congress and signed into law on July 4, 2025.

Starting Jan. 1, 2027, adults ages 19 to 64 enrolled in Medicaid Expansion will be required to participate in work, an approved work or training program, volunteer or be enrolled in an education program for at least 80 hours per month to maintain their coverage, unless they qualify for an exclusion.

The new rules exclude certain individuals from having to meet work requirements, including Native Americans; parents, guardians or family caregivers of children ages 13 and under or to someone with a disability; people with special health needs that make it hard to work; pregnant women or members who were pregnant in the last 12 months; and veterans with a 100% disability rating, among others.

Development Homes, Inc is another great agency in our community who provides outstanding services for people with disabilities. We were honored to participate in some their re-accreditation activities and continue to support them with a few of their newest goals. They have been an exceptional partner over the years, and we are privileged to continue to work with them to ensure that every person they serve is empowered to live their best lives. Congrats DHI! You are the best!

We are making it official! We had a recent reaccreditation visit and are happy to report that we have achieved Person-Centered Excellence! Thank you to all who participated and to your ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

From The Arc of the United States:

The Arc of the US needs your help in spreading the word about a survey we want to get out to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The survey was developed by an ad hoc committee convened by The Arc of the US Board of Directors. We are looking to learn what leadership roles people with IDD have done or want to do. And we want to hear about how The Arc can give people with disabilities more chances to be leaders. The responses will help us make better plans to train people to be leaders, and answers will also help us include more people with disabilities in leadership roles.

We want to remind everyone to watch this training on Thursday night as this is vital to understand where we came from as a state related to provision of services. The services that we have now are because of many years of hard work by families of people with disabilities and organizations across the state, including The Arc of North Dakota.

As we stated in our Teen Night Out Facebook post, we will have this training on in one of our offices on Thursday night for anyone interested in watching this while the teens participate their activities.

We were honored to support Grand Forks Growth and Support Center during their re-accreditation process last week. They invited us to participate in several sessions where we were able to share our view of their organization as a collaborating partner. Our community is privileged to have many quality services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. GFGSC is a shining example of an innovative organization that truly and authentically puts the people that they support at the center of everything they do. Congrats GFGSC!
